Summary

Power Supply Engineering Services provided technical engineering support to PGE's generation facilities. Civil Engineering ensures that capital projects, support of plant maintenance, and compliance work supports safe, efficient, and reliable power generation. Projects in support of the generation facilities will touch all disciplines in civil engineering and may include civil, structural, geotechnical, and water resource designs.

A Civil Engineer will apply engineering design and analysis skills to a wide variety of challenging projects. Typical project work would be task focused in support of larger multi-disciplinary projects as well as design management of more defined scopes of work. This position provides the opportunity to develop professional engineering skills with a combination of in-field and office work delivering results from conception to commissioning project lifecycles. Creativity, communication, and collaboration are key when working on state of the art and first of its kind projects.

Responsibilities - Associate Civil Engineer (p1)

Engineering Standards

  • Applies engineering education and training in advancing professional knowledge of engineering processes and standards and independently applies knowledge to assignments with occasional guidance on request.

  • Develops applied professional engineering knowledge of design, construction and maintenance of generation and substation facilities and all applicable policies, rules, regulations and codes in the civil engineering field through assignments in support of complex projects.

Engineering Production

  • Prepares a variety of engineering deliverables as a member of an engineering support/project team.

  • Provides civil engineering and construction support for generation and substation facilities; prepares and verifies a variety of engineering deliverables for construction activities and projects.

Project Coordination

  • Coordinates with other professional engineers on project team; shares information and professional opinions in executing project tasks.

  • Assists senior engineers with engineering and construction projects for generation and substation facilities; develops designs, construction, maintenance, testing elements and budget and job estimates as requested.

Knowledge Sharing

  • Expands professional knowledge of latest technology and processes; shares knowledge with other colleagues.

  • Assists in training technicians, draftsmen and designers on new design standards.

Engineering Standards

  • Maintains currency in state-of-the-art engineering practices and independently applies professional knowledge of engineering processes and standards.

  • Applies engineering theories and concepts to enhance knowledge of design and maintenance of generation and substation facilities and all applicable policies, rules, regulations and codes in the civil engineering field; applies knowledge to assist with project engineering management for complex projects.

Engineering Production

  • Prepares a variety of moderately complex engineering deliverables; leads smaller project teams.

  • Provides civil engineering and construction support for generation and substation facilities; prepares and verifies moderately complex designs for construction activities and projects.

Project Coordination

  • Assigns tasks and coordinates with other internal/external team members on assigned projects; shares information and provides professional guidance in executing project tasks.

  • Provides complex design, construction, maintenance and testing elements in support of engineering and construction needs of generation and substation facilities; contributes to capital budget and job estimates.

Knowledge Sharing

  • Shares current knowledge of latest technology and processes; may assist with mentoring, recognition and any corrective actions required.

  • Communicates new design standards to technicians, draftsmen, designers and less experienced colleagues; reviews designs to ensure they meet standards and makes corrections as needed.

Qualifications

Required, p1 Level:

  • Education Requires a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. ABET accredited engineering program or program accredited by an equivalent agency preferred.

  • Experience Typically, two or fewer years in civil engineering

  • Certifications, Licenses and Training: Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred.

  • Valid Driver's License required

Required, P2 Level:

  • Education Requires a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. ABET accredited engineering program or program accredited by an equivalent agency preferred.

  • Experience: Typically two or more years in civil engineering.

  • Certifications, Licenses and Training Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam strongly preferred; may be required based upon role.

  • Valid Driver's License required

Compensation Range:

$71,325.00 - $140,750.00

Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
