Position Title: Pharmacy Technician 2

Work Location: Shelby Township (48315 Zipcode) - 12968 Pauline Drive (11153)

Assignment Duration: 12 months

Work Schedule: 8:30-5pm primary shift, 9:00-5:30 pm

Work Arrangement: On-site

Position Summary: Work with the Pharmacists to accurately prepare prescription orders in a timely manner

Background & Context:



  • The primary purpose of this team is to work on partner manufacture free drug programs
  • This team works primarily on the fulfillment side of orders, although some upfront verification and patient counseling is required
  • We are a closed door pharmacy with minimal in person contact with patients
  • This hiring need is to support future software conversion training for permanent staff


Key Responsibilities:

  • Interact with various departments to provide accurately dispensed prescriptions on a timely basis
  • Work under direct supervision of a pharmacist
  • Locate correct medication and strength to complete picking of order
  • Prepare, count, label, and package pharmaceuticals for Pharmacist approval
  • Purchase, receive and coordinate inventory
  • Maintain and update inventory recap report
  • Retrieve discontinued or expired medications from stock; discard or return to stock as appropriate; complete corresponding documentation
  • Maintain prescription logs
  • Accurately calibrate equipment and document calibration according to policy
  • Assist with the maintenance of pharmacy temperature and cleaning logs and documents maintenance
  • Comply with safety, quality assurance, accreditation, legal, state, and federal regulatory requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards


Qualification & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of pharmacy technician or medical office (i.e., biller, coder, office assistance, or prior authorization/certification) experience
  • Familiarity with drugs commonly used to treat chronic/debilitating illnesses
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred
  • State pharmacy technician license(s) relative to where the employee and assigned pharmacy are located (exception being NY where a pharmacy technician license is not required). License is required upon hire
