Location: Washington, DC

Salary: $240,000.00 - $270,000.00

This position is contingent upon project award

Position Summary:

Command Cyber Solutions, LLC., is seeking a highly experienced AI Ethics Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide technical expertise and advisory support to the Department of Defense's (DoD) Responsible Artificial Intelligence (RAI) initiatives. The AI Ethics SME will serve as a key advisor on ethical, human factors, cybersecurity, and policy considerations in development and development of AI systems. This role is responsible for designing and running Responsible AI tabletop exercise, conducting gap analysis, and shaping courses of action to strengthen DoD's RAI capabilities and processes. The candidate will bring deep knowledge of AI ethics frameworks, demonstrated experience influencing DoD or federal AI governance, and the ability to anticipate emerging ethical, social, and technical challenges associated with AI adoption.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise on AI ethics across disciplines including cybersecurity, human factors, system safety, test and evaluation, and policy.
  • Design, develop, and facilitate Responsibility AI tabletop exercises to identify risks and test ethical frameworks in DoD AI applications.
  • Conduct Responsible AI gap analyses and scope courses of action (COAs) to address DoD RAI capability and process needs.
  • Support the development and evaluation of AI ethics products, frameworks, and governance tools.
  • Advise DoD stakeholders on the application of ethical principles to AI system design, deployment, and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams including engineers, policy analysts, and senior leaders to integrate ethics into AI strategy and operations.
  • Contribute to the drafting of DoD-wide AI ethics policies, white papers, and technical standards to advance enterprise-level adoption of responsible AI practices.

Education, Certification & Experience Requirements:

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Applied Ethics, AI Ethics, Data Ethics, or related field from an accredited university (Required).
  • Master's degree in Applied Ethics, AI Ethics, Data Ethics, or related discipline (Preferred).

Certification Required:

  • Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility (Required).

Experience Required:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience with AI/IT fields with a focus on ethics.
  • 5+ years of disciplinary expertise in cybersecurity, human factors, ethics, and policy.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and running Responsible AIT tabletop exercises.
  • 5+ years of experience conducting RAI gap analysis and developing courses of actions for DoD.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated expertise in AI ethics, responsible AI frameworks, and applied ethical decision making in technical environments.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity, human factors, and system safety engineering as they relate to AI adoption.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to engage senior DoD stakeholders and present complex ethical issues in actionable terms.
  • Ability to conduct interdisciplinary research and analysis to support the ethical design and deployment of AI systems.
  • Experience leading interagency or international collaborations on AI governance, ethics, and policy development.
