Position: Import and logistics Operation Specialist Location: Torrance, CA (onsite)
Hours: 9:00am - 6:00pm
Employment: Non-Exempt, Direct-Hire, Full-Time
OVERVIEW:
The Import and Logistics Operations Specialist oversees import activities to ensure smooth flow of CPG products from Asia to the U.S. market. The role includes coordinating shipments with freight forwarders, managing purchase orders, supervising one staff, and handling daily logistics operations. In addition to using logistics/SCM systems, the Specialist also manages shipments in Excel with manual data entry, so attention to detail and accuracy are essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT ARE LIMITED TO:
Manage Purchase Orders: Oversee and process purchase orders with both suppliers and customers, ensuring accuracy and timely execution.
Oversee Shipments and Payments: Supervise shipment receiving, verify and match invoices, and manage vendor payments. Handle both system and Excel data entry with accuracy.
Coordinate Logistics: Work closely with freight forwarders to arrange ocean shipments of
CPG products
from Asia to U.S. warehouses, ensuring timely delivery.
Monitor Container Progress and Costs: Maintain container order progress and perform landed cost analysis for operational efficiency.
Lead Team Operations: Supervise and support subordinates' daily tasks, including approval processes and workflow management.
Inventory and Sales Management: Conduct monthly inventory reconciliation and generate sales invoices.
Document Management: Organize and maintain logistics and SCM-related documents in the shared drive.
Communication: Respond promptly to internal and external inquiries, maintaining professional correspondence.
Corporate Engagement: Participate actively in monthly corporate division meetings and contribute to strategic discussions.
QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of one year of experience in Import Operations.
Bilingual in Japanese and/or prior work experience with a Japanese company.
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is proffered, but not required.
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), with the ability to perform manual data entry in Excel with speed and accuracy while ensuring data integrity.
Strong organizational, coordination, and communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus.
