What We're Looking For:
If you are experienced in government proposals and capture management within the Federal marketplace and have 10+ years of experience, then you will be excited about the USG Proposal Manager opening with Iridium on our Business Development team. As a USG Proposal Manager, you'll be responsible for managing multiple activities and projects, including those with cross-functional teams, to support and enhance Iridium's government proposal and capture efforts. In this role, you will be tasked primarily with leading proposal development from kickoff to submission, ensuring compliance and high-quality deliverables, while also supporting strategic capture initiatives to position Iridium for future opportunities. You will succeed in this role if you have a strong understanding of Federal proposal processes, thrive under tight deadlines, and can collaborate effectively across teams to produce compelling and compliant proposal submissions. This position requires an active/current Top Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
What You'll Do:
Work independently to manage proposal development efforts from pre-solicitation through final submission, ensuring compliance, responsiveness, and high-quality deliverables
- Be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing proposal activities in collaboration with internal stakeholders and the business development team
- Support capture efforts by contributing to the development and execution of strategic capture plans, including call plans, win themes, and competitive assessments
- Maintain alignment between the Federal Government sales team and the Technology, Development, and Operations (TDO) team to ensure seamless integration of proposal and capture activities
- Craft solutions to meet client requirements by partnering with Solution Leads and technical subject matter experts to develop compliant, compelling, and innovative technical solutions and demonstrations
- Analyze customer requirements, RFPs (Request for Proposal), RFIs (Request for Information), and White Papers to produce tailored responses that effectively position Iridium's capabilities
- Deliver compelling and persuasive content that aligns with win strategies and differentiates Iridium from competitors
- Play a key role in sourcing, evaluating, and negotiating teaming agreements and work share prior to RFP release
- Manage complex proposal schedules, inputs, and workflows while ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards
- Execute and lead capture-related meetings, including kickoffs, win theme workshops, solutioning sessions, and teaming discussions in partnership with the Proposal Lead and Business Development team
- Maintain accurate documentation of proposal and capture activities, contributing to internal knowledge repositories and past performance libraries
- Evaluate pursuit readiness and contribute to pipeline and gate reviews, offering informed recommendations based on pursuit analysis
- Help improve overall proposal and capture processes by implementing lessons learned and identifying areas for efficiency and innovation
- Support ongoing client engagement in coordination with the business development and capture teams to strengthen relationships and inform strategy
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or any technical related field
- 10+ years of relevant experience in DoD (Department of Defense) contracting; experience in the Space industry preferred
- Working knowledge and understanding of the government acquisition process, the FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) and acquisition strategy development
- Formal training or certification in Shipley Business Development
- Market and Domain Knowledge, with a satellite systems and telecommunications focus
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues clearly and confidently, and recognize and adapt to different communication techniques
- Can easily build meaningful relationships with others, including senior leadership outside of your own department, and comfortable providing constructive feedback to your team members and management
- Be able to analyze a situation or problem, generate effective solutions, and see those solutions through to completion
- Must possess the creativity and resourcefulness needed to make reliable decisions and determine methods on new assignments
- Can thrive in a dynamic environment by handling multiple tasks and managing shifting priorities
- Be proactive in sharing knowledge you've learned with others
Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:
- An active/current Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
- Experience leading multiple large efforts($30 million+ total) concurrently
- Experience managing successful federal proposals
- Prior experience with established proposal methodologies
- Demonstrated skills in opportunity qualification, customer visits, and customer relationship development
We'll also need you to:
- Be able to travel up to 25%
- Be a U.S. Citizen
Work Environment:
This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
