Position Overview

The Director of Materials Management is a senior leadership role responsible for the oversight and optimization of materials management across the Salt Lake City Manufacturing Facility of Albany Engineered Composites. This individual leads a team of Industrial Engineers, Production Planning, Shipping/Receiving, and Inventory Control teams to ensure a seamless and productive flow of materials. The role is accountable for driving "Ready to Execute" operations support, operational excellence, enabling data-driven decision-making, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while supporting the organization's long-term strategic supply chain vision.



Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the Operations Build Plan in alignment with program and customer requirements.
  • Lead Production Planning and ensure program-focused management of the build plan.
  • Oversee master data and schedule cleanup to ensure systemic accuracy and reliability.
  • Direct Dispatch and Production Control to ensure flawless execution of the build plan.
  • Direct Shop Floor Industrial Engineering activities including 3P Design, office and cell layout optimization, cycle time and span upkeep, and enabling a visual factory.
  • Develop and execute recovery plans and tactical continuous improvement (CI) initiatives focused on cost reduction, process improvement, and rate tool analysis support.
  • Be the central leader for Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), driving resolution of deviations related to Man, Material, Machine, Method, and Measurement.
  • Lead warehouse operations including Plan for Every Part (PFEP), inventory master data cleanup, and accurate cycle counting to support real-time material visibility.
  • Oversee Shipping & Receiving operations ensuring compliance, timeliness, and efficiency.
  • Drive strategic end-to-end supply chain initiatives including SIOP, value stream thinking, and SAP system optimization.

  • Exception Management & Risk Mitigation to ensure resilience and customer satisfaction.


Systems & Digital Competency

  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred) as the system of record for materials management, with emphasis on enabling data-driven decision-making and digital transformation.


Continuous Improvement & Compliance

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on efficiency, cost reduction, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with ITAR, aerospace standards, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and adherence to company policies and quality standards.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in Operations or Supply Chain Management.
  • Preferred APICS CPIM certification and/or MBA.
  • Demonstrated expertise in production planning, warehouse operations, and inventory management.
