Overview

Hudson Valley Credit Union is currently recruiting for a Senior Director Total Rewards. Primary Function: Lead the design and execution of compensation, benefits, and recognition programs across our banking enterprise. Ensure our Total Rewards strategy supports our mission to attract, retain, and motivate top talent while maintaining compliance with banking regulations and risk management standards. The Senior Director will serve as a key advisor to the CHRO, CEO, and Compensation Committee of the Board, driving programs that reinforce our values of integrity, accountability, and member-centricity.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a Total Rewards strategy that aligns with the credit unions business goals, risk appetite, and regulatory/compliance obligations
  • Ensure rewards programs support talent acquisition, retention, and engagement across all business unit functions.
  • Partner with senior leadership to align rewards with performance, culture, and long-term value creation
  • Lead the design and governance of executive and employee compensation programs, including base pay, annual incentives, equity, and long-term incentive plans
  • Oversee compensation planning cycles, ensuring alignment with pay-for-performance principles and internal equity
  • Ensure compliance with credit union regulations and best practice.
  • Prepare materials and analysis for the Compensation Committee
  • Oversee the credit unions benefits portfolio, including health, welfare, retirement, and wellness programs
  • Evaluate benefit offerings to ensure competitiveness, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with employee needs
  • Lead Total Rewards analytics, including market benchmarking, pay equity, and workforce cost modeling
  • Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams to ensure programs meet internal controls and regulatory standards
  • Present insights and recommendations to executive leadership and the Board, when necessary.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Total Rewards team with expertise in compensation, & benefits
  • Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Finance, and Legal to deliver integrated solutions
  • Adhere to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements. Participate in all required and recommended training and development including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act training (BSA) and demonstrate attained knowledge. Participate on Credit Union teams, projects and strategic initiatives when the opportunity arises. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience required.
  • Minimum 15 years in Total Rewards required.
  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership role within a banking or financial services environment, required.
  • Deep knowledge of banking compensation regulations, executive pay governance, and benefits strategy required.
