Position Summary

The Data Center Operations focus specializes in providing technical support for computerized operations. Installs, configures and troubleshoots computer hardware, software, systems and other resources in a data center or other centralized computer network setting. Monitors system performance and utilization metrics including support for new equipment.

Applies professional-level technical skill and judgment to provide non-routine technical support for computer/data center operations. Installs, configures and troubleshoots server and non-desktop computer hardware, software, systems and other resources in a data center or other centralized computer network setting. Maintains access control, data integrity and file system security for the computer/data center environment. Monitors, tracks and records system performance and utilization metrics. Communicates highly technical information to both technical and nontechnical personnel. Recommends process, hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgrades, to improve computer/data center efficiency. May participate in development of information technology and infrastructure projects. May be internal or external, client-focused, working in conjunction with Professional Services and outsourcing functions. May include company-wide, web-enabled solutions.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop scripts or tools for automating routine administrative and operational tasks.

  • Administer and Optimization of Active Directory Environments.

  • Support and maintain virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V, including VM provisioning, patching, and performance tuning.

  • Monitor and maintain a server farm (1000+ servers).

  • Administration of Microsoft server platforms 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025 servers.

  • Administration of Red Hat Linux server platforms - Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS, 22.04.5 LTS, and 24.10 LTS.

  • Maintain server and storage hardware at on-prem DCs

  • Administer and manager onboarding/offboarding processes for users, automating account creation and permissions where applicable.

  • Manage and maintain web servers using Microsoft IIS.

  • Support internal and external DNS servers.

  • Respond to and resolve Tier 2 technical support issues, escalating when necessary.

  • Contribute technical resources on assigned IT projects.

  • Continuously evaluate system performance and suggest improvements to increase reliability, security, and efficiency.

  • Provide weekly status reports of work-related activities.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • College degree preferred in CIS/MIS programs or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.

Required Experience:

  • Advanced skills with PowerShell scripting

  • 4+ years relevant experience supporting servers.

  • 4+ years' experience with Microsoft Active Directory.

  • Ability to work in high pressure situations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expertise in advanced Windows scripting, Active Directory automation, and O365.

  • Knowledge of workflows and automation tools like Workato, Ansible, puppet etc

  • Strong knowledge of commonly used IT concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Proven ability to manage servers in clustered and high-availability environments.

  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, including domain services and policies.

  • Proficient in troubleshooting HP rack servers and blade infrastructure technologies.

  • Experience in supporting and maintaining Microsoft Windows operating systems.

  • Knowledgeable in securing operating systems and applying industry-standard security practices.

  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server versions 2012, 2016, 2019, and 2022.

  • Practical experience with Ubuntu Linux versions 20.04.2 LTS, 22.04.5 LTS, and 24.10 LTS.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365 (O365), and Microsoft Teams administration.

  • Experience with telecom systems, including call center solutions such as Verizon NXO and Team Call (soft phones).

  • Strong working knowledge of VMware virtualization infrastructure; experience with Nutanix is a plus.

  • Familiarity with various storage technologies; advanced knowledge is a plus.

  • Basic knowledge of LAN/WAN networking, with the ability to troubleshoot client-server connectivity issues.

  • Skilled at managing multiple tasks, priorities, and objectives in a dynamic setting.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, including technical documentation.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. for hardware installation and maintenance when necessary.

  • Must be willing and able to travel, work after hours and weekends as required (estimated travel < 10%).
