Who You Are:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive QHSE Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role plays a critical part in promoting a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

What You'll Do:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain QHSE policies, procedures, and management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections to ensure compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor and report on QHSE performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Provide training and awareness programs to staff on QHSE topics.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure all permits, licenses, and certifications are up to date.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of non-conformities.
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • To implement Versar Global Safety Management System, Policy and Manual in accordance with corporate requirements.
  • To maintain and develop the QHSE Manual and QHSE Policy.
  • To promote QHSE culture and lead efforts to improve HSE and Quality performance.
  • To liaise with all department heads on matters of QHSE ensuring that philosophy is foremost in their minds.
  • To advise Managers/Supervisors on matters relating to Quality, Health and Safety and Environment.
  • To be responsible for coordinating QHSE to a high standard, to comply with ISO-9001, 14001, 45001 and managing all the procedures and works instructions which apply to the Company.
  • To ensure that 'best practice' is implemented as far as records, documentation, storage, retrieval, archiving, presentation and back-up are concerned.
  • To liaise with clients and suppliers on all matters concerning QHSE.
  • To co-ordinate a program of risk assessments to ensure all operations are assessed.
  • To effect continual improvement in the management information system of the Company.

Authority:

  • To stop any operations within the company which are considered to be hazardous to health.
  • To call meetings with Managers to discuss Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental issues.
  • To reject or hold any work which does not conform to specification and to enter any department for the purpose of verifying quality and its associated activities.

What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a QHSE role, preferably in the service industry.
  • Certification in ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001, 14001 or 45001 Lead Auditor, NEBOSH, OSHA) is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of local and international QHSE regulations and standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and QHSE management software.
  • Travel required: 40-60%.
  • Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Successful results of preemployment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.
  • Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
  • Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate's start date.

Training:

  • To actively develop and maintain a HSE and QA training plan and to deliver training courses as and when required.
  • To evaluate the effectiveness of all completed training.

Safety:

  • To ensure that all statutory safety and environmental issues are adhered to, in conjunction with the Company's safety procedures.
  • To ensure all the Company's safety procedures are revised and maintained in line with current legislation.

Compensation

Expected Salary: $90,000 - $100,000

Versar Global Solutions is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the Company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's status protected by local, state, or federal law.

Location Requirements

The position will primarily work onsite at one of our office locations in Dallas, TX; Washington, DC; Germantown, MD; and Greenville, SC.
