Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000
A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant's education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source.

Position Summary
The position is responsible for the operations of Main Campus Plumbing and Rover Engineering Shops (14 Reports) serving critical buildings operations on Main and Ambler Campuses.

The position is essential to provide oversight of building's operations including, plumbing, stormwater management systems, domestic cold and hot water and heating systems, ventilation and air conditioning systems.

Oversight includes trades-worker supervision, task assignment, technical assistance and training to provide mechanical asset oversight, troubleshooting, repairs and coordinating utilities shutdowns for the institution. The supervision is crucial to oversee systems operating efficiently with minimum to zero building interruptions which the critical goal that our department focuses to achieve every day, all day: year round.

The position provides technical expertise to cross-departments for University-wide projects; consulting with others as needed to coordinate the planning and execution of projects, and the delivery of a service to other departments within the University. The position is essential to continue to effectively manage and supervise essential trades.

In addition, the supervisor position rotates 24hr weekly on-call services 6 times per year.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

* Must have a valid US Driver's License or ability to obtain one if hired.
* Must be able to work On-Call for several weeks throughout the year.

Required Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree
* Minimum of five (5) years institutional mechanical trades supervisory experience.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience
*Philadelphia Master Plumbing License

Required Skills and Abilities
* Ability to resolve complex problems within the area of expertise.
* Ability to guide others in the decision-making process with an area of technical expertise.
* Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, plumbing and all related systems common to University buildings and labs
* Knowledge of air handling systems and ability to troubleshoot and accurately diagnose existing and potential problems.
* Understanding of ANSI and plumbing codes.
* Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with various populations effectively.
* Knowledge of project management and the ability to establish priorities.
* Working knowledge of closed-loop chilled or hot water systems and refrigeration principles.
* Ability to identify individual training needs; may facilitate training delivery; demonstrated work technique, as appropriate.
* Must have a basic understanding of building codes.
* Proven supervisory skills and the ability to manage projects.
* Working knowledge of all applicable computer software, including MS Office.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to read drawings, schematics, and one-line diagrams.
* Familiarity with all laws and regulations about equipment operation and repair.
* Ability to operate all standard engineering and facilities management equipment.
* Must pass TU criminal background and DMV check

Essential Functions of the Position
* Supervises trade mechanics to complete needed repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance.* Provides technical expertise to direct and indirect reports in the field, mentors them, and ensures compliance with all state and local codes.
* Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the plumbing and mechanical trades and provides identified deficiencies to other applicable trades for resolution.
* Manages the maintenance of all mechanical and building systems throughout all campus buildings.
* Facilitates and schedules jobs for employees and outside contractors for maintenance, repairs, renovations, and new installations.
* Develops estimates in support of repairs and construction projects.
* Authorizes time and payments for employees, outside contractors, and vendors.
* Organizes, places, and tracks all material orders required for shop employees to complete work order assignments requested by Clients and for scheduled maintenance.
* Maintains knowledge of Clients' needs to enhance working relationships.
* Possess the ability to resolve complex problems within the area of expertise. Guides others in the decision-making process within the area of technical expertise. Applies creativity and encourages innovation to problem resolution and work processes within general parameters.
* Compiles records of labor and material costs for operating buildings and issues cost reports to the manager.
* May be responsible for developing a portion of the department budget or monitoring a project phase.
* Identifies individual training needs; may facilitate training delivery; demonstrated work technique, as appropriate.
* Supervisory responsibilities include participation in selecting candidates, performance evaluation, training, and/or general human resource issues.
* Drive Temple vehicles around campus and traverse from one campus to another to perform duties such as transporting pumps and safety equipment for entering steam maintenance holes and fulfilling Engineering Shop's obligations to the Ambler and Center City campuses
* Perform other related functions in support of the programs as directed.
