Learn About A Day in the Life of a Med Surg RN:

  • The Charge Nurse is a registered nurse professional who assumes responsibility for the direction and coordination of all day-to-day functions in the unit on his/her designated shifts.
  • In collaboration with other members of the management team, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit.
  • He/she is responsible for the supervision of assigned nursing and unit-based personnel to provide a safe, caring environment for patients, family and staff which fosters professional nursing practice, shared decision making, inter-professional teamwork and collaboration with positive patient and staff outcomes.
  • He/she assists the Nursing Manager/Director in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and monitoring policies and procedures, allocation of resources, quality/performance improvement initiatives, educational programs and shared governance councils to achieve departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
  • Provides direct nursing care as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • A graduate of an accredited nursing school
  • Licensure Must possess a current Oklahoma License as a Registered Nurse
  • Two to five years of clinical experience (preferably in the area of application)
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
  • Must obtain and maintain ACLS within 6 months of hire

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Experience in patient care management
  • Charge nurse experience
