A Brief Overview: Under minimal administrative oversight, direct the functions of a complex research laboratory and program, looking at novel treatments for glioblastoma. Serve as a Co-Investigator for federally funded projects while developing own externally-funded projects as Principal Investigator/Program Director. No initial independent funding required, but expected to support their effort through external grants and contracts through role as co-investigator, and to submit grant applications and proposals to internal and external sponsors and obtain their own independent project funding within 2 years of starting in the position. What you will do:
- Serve as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on research projects with responsibilities including but not limited to: monitoring research budgets, developing and managing research projects, designing experiments and procedures, and performing analysis for publication and presentation
- Submit grant applications to internal and external sponsors for research projects as a Principal Investigator/Program Director
- Possibly supervise Research Assistants, Post-docs, students, and other laboratory personnel conducting experimental procedures and data collection.
- Participate in national or international scientific/professional meetings as speaker/presenter
- Contribute manuscripts annually as a primary author or senior author for manuscripts submitted to peer reviewed journals
What you will need:
- Education: Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or M.D., including those conferred outside of the U.S.)
- Skills: Experience with in vitro and in vivo models of glioblastoma, including the development and implementation of unique therapeutic modalities with translational potential for the treatment of glioblastoma in patients. A strong publication record with the use of these models is also preferred.
