Analytical Services - Agricultural Experiment Station Chemical Laboratories

This position is classified as part-time/temporary to address an urgent staffing need. The role may require up to 40 hours per week, with potential overtime. The work schedule would be 7:30-4pm Monday through Friday. Dependent upon a number of factors, this position, may in the future transition to a benefit-eligible position.

The College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) Agricultural Experiment Station Chemical Laboratories is seeking a Part-time/temporary Senior Research/Lab Technician.

Primary duties include:

• Performs a variety of quantitative and qualitative analyses of organic and inorganic compounds in foods, feeds, and other materials, using existing Official Methods of Analysis and other existing procedures, to determine chemical composition and properties.
• Provides routine operational maintenance of specialized laboratory equipment.
• Prepares analytical reports.
• Performs a variety of standard assignments and responsibilities and makes recommendations for improvement/efficiency, as necessary.
• Analyzes information and standard practices to make judgments.
• Works within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet established deadlines.
• Evaluates and monitors parts, tools, machinery, equipment, and inventory.
• Develops working relationships with immediate, related teams.
• Impacts the quality of own work and team through accuracy, efficiency, quality, etc.
• May assist, as needed, other staff in completing laboratory duties.
• Receives instruction, guidance, and/or direction from the laboratory Director or designated senior level individual.

Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Proficiency in the use of Excel.

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $14.80 -$20.32/hourly.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
