Logistics and Planning Team Leader

thyssenkrupp integrated its Forging & Machining and Undercarriage businesses to start the new business unit Forged Technologies. With roughly 7,000 employees at 18 production sites in seven different countries, thyssenkrupp Forged Technologies has sales of over one billion euros and operates over 50 forging press lines and more than 150 machining and assembly lines in seven countries. The product portfolio includes undercarriage systems for heavy machinery as well as crankshafts, connecting rods, pistons, chassis products, transmission systems and rotor shafts for the automotive industry.

Summary

The Logistics Team Leader reports to the Logistics Group Leader on the daily activities and is responsible for managing all logistics for machining operations including off site warehouse, plant shipping/receiving dock, special packaging and component supply.

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Scheduling inbound / outbound shipments and ensuring timely and accurate deliveries
• Keeping up with inbound and outbound material flow and supplies
• Managing plant storage locations
• Managing 5S activities
• System inventory accuracy
• Supervising materials handlers for special packaging, components, forklift operators and warehouse forklift operators and shipping / receiving personnel

Specific Responsibilities of the Job

• Schedule customer shipments and ensure delivery accuracy based on customer orders
• Ensure scheduled shipments are completed
• Monitor delivery performance on customer scorecard tools
• Schedule shipments from and to warehouses, interplant, customers and vendors
• Perform inventory counts for inventory accuracy in SAP
• Supervise and communicate activities to be performed for materials handlers for special packaging, components, forklift operators and warehouse forklift operators and shipping / receiving personnel
• Ensure direct reports coverage on absenteeism and scheduled time off
• Responsible for preparing shipping paperwork and posting goods issue in SAP
• Responsible for receiving and materials movement in SAP
• Audit inbound and outbound deliveries for accuracy
• Responsible for dock, warehousing, storage activities and utilization management
• Ensure production lines are kept with enough materials / supplies (forgings, components, returnable / one-way packaging, etc) based on production planning determined by the Materials and Production Planners
• Responsible to manage returnable racks / dunnage flow between tk plants, customers and vendors
• Responsible for 5S activities and organization of the storage areas in the plant and warehouse

• Maintain accurate and appropriate level of raw material and supply on the plant
• Inventory cycle count accuracy
• Ensure appropriate resources are in place to meet production needs

Essential Functions

• Proficient in English Language
• Ability to work independently as well as with a team
• Ability to sit for long periods of time in performing work
• Walking in a manufacturing setting with multiple stairs and inclines

Qualifications

• Education/Credentials/Certifications
• Associates Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain or related field or relevant experience
• Length of Experience
• At least 3 years of experience in the logistics field including supervision
• Shipping, receiving and materials handling experience required
• Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Background in logistics and/supply chain
• Excellent oral and written language ability
• Mathematical ability and ability to develop projection formulas
• Excellent reasoning and problem solving ability
• Experience using SAP is a plus
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Ability to work independently
• Extremely detail-oriented and organized
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to cope with changes
