Summary:

The patient service scheduler for Rehab Services is responsible for multi-site appointment scheduling, appointment rescheduling, and confirming physician orders for appointments for all Rehab locations. The Scheduler plays a critical role in maintaining open communication and rapport when scheduling for efficient department productivity. The Scheduler is responsible for communicating effectively and professionally, understanding and coordinating physician orders, collecting pertinent patient information, distributing required information and materials, and scheduling services appropriately. Organization, flexibility, and good communication skills are paramount to this position. The scheduler accepts calls and faxes from families, physician offices or clinics which need to schedule new appointments or reschedule canceled appointments. This position requires knowledge of HMOs, PPOs, Commercial Payers, HSAs, Cobra, Medicaid, STAR plans, CSHCN, CHIP and hospital financial assistance programs. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining knowledge of JCAHO, HIPPA, Patient Rights and Responsibilities, and departmental/System policies and procedures. They provide excellent customer service to patients, families, physicians, and staff.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bilingual preferred.

  • Ability to type, spell, write or print legibly with general knowledge of personal computers required.

  • Strong interpersonal communication, documentation and customer service skills required.

  • 3 years of medical office experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of health care insurance and managed care preferred. Medical terminology preferred.

  • BLS Healthcare Provider certification recommended, not required.

  • Annual CPR certification recommended, not required.
