Salary Range:Pay rate from $29.01-$34.53/hr with annual pay of $58,007.04 - $69,056 with 3 - 5 years seniority.

Embark on a fulfilling career at BNSF Railway where joining the Mechanical Department offers you the opportunity to be part of a dedicated team focused on safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement. The Coach Cleaner position maintains the cleanliness and appearance of train coaches.

This is a full-time(40hrs/wk) position and is subject seniority-based union agreement-governed shift assignment, overtime, nights, alternatingshifts, weekends, and holidays.Mechanical shops operate 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.

Travel is minimal.

Training for this position is company-paid on-the-job training.

Key responsibilities may include:

Supplying and cleaning inside and outside of passenger train cars: removing garbage from cars, sweeping, mopping, cleaning (windows, bathrooms, seats), polishing stainless steel, and other assigned duties.

Cleaning and servicing passenger car toilets and hand sanitizers, as well as updating Metra magazines and fliers as needed.

Operating yard vehicles (water buggies, garbage tractors) safely and in compliance with guidelines.

Covering service at Chicago Union Station,plugging and unplugging thetrains as a Utility worker.

Daily work is conducted in a safety sensitive environment where the working conditions can include diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet), walking and performing work on uneven surfaces, working around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 18 years of age or will be by the start date listed above.
  • Available to work in geographic area indicated.

  • Abilityto read, write and communicate (speak, hear, and communicate) in English.
  • Abilityto lift and carry up to50lbswithout assistance.
  • Ability to use handsanduse hand toolsto perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning and pulling.
  • Ability toclimb laddersand get on/off equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally work from various heights.
  • Ability tobend, walk,stand, andsitoccasionally with breaks.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures; wear the required personal protective equipment.

Union membership is with the Brotherhood of RailwayCarmenand union dues are required per union agreement.
