Job Description - Forecasting, Supervisor or Manager
TEP is seeking a Forecasting Supervisor or Manager level candidate with the following experience.
Position description
The Forecasting team is responsible for performing studies regarding the Company's customer base, retail gas and electric sales, load characteristics and utility economics. Develops customer, sales and load forecasts for TEP, UNS Electric, and UNS Gas.
This position supervises a team of individuals ranging from Analyst I - Analyst Sr and showcases strong leadership skills to lead the team with motivation and problem-solving skills to perform all rate administration functions with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency for all operating utilities. This position also provides necessary training and coaching of direct reports and provides support for day-to-day activities. Additional duties include evaluating billing terms included in potential contracts and serving as subject-matter expert for regulatory proceedings.
Supervisor Position related responsibilities:
- Maintains confidentiality for all matters regarding highly sensitive corporate and outside party information gathered and used in billing and day-to-day operations.
- Supervises and plans the work activities for Analysts.
- Supervises assigned projects and analytical studies regarding the Company's customer base, sales and load characteristics.
- Supervises and develops statistical and /or econometric models to determine the impact of variables such as economic growth, population, weather, competition, and pricing on the retail demand and sales of electricity and natural gas throughout the UNS system.
- Oversees the development of annual and monthly system wide econometric forecasts of the Company's retail electric and natural gas customers, demand and energy sales.
- Experience with SAS or other statistical programming language, SQL and relational databases.
- Experience in the application of forecasting methods and real-world data
- Strong practical application of statistical methodologies
- Knowledge of economic principles, statistics and econometrics to develop forecasting
- Demonstrates a creative approach to problem solving in a dynamic environment.
- Responsible for review and sign-off of work of other analysts and completed projects.
- Readily communicates the status of specific projects, programs, or on-going work with leadership.
- Collaborates with and provides analysis and reporting to leadership.
- Acts as source for training for direct reports providing guidance and adherence to procedures and internal controls.
- Supervises direct reports and participates in Leadership Development programs.
- This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.
Manager Position related responsibilities (in addition to the Supervisor Position responsibilities):
- Directs or supports all activities relating to long-range customer, sales and margin forecasts.
- Work with other business unit leaders to develop regulatory strategies and work plans.
- Directs studies regarding forecast inputs for use in rate analyses, system planning and business planning.
- Assists with the development of special contract pricing analysis and other rate related studies beneficial to UniSource and its affiliates.
- Develops strategy and materials, in conjunction with other departments, used in educating customers about weather impacts on usage and bills. Assists other areas of the Company in understanding weather and usage issues.
- Develops testimony and exhibits to support weather, billing determinant adjustments and load research performed for regulatory applications. May appear as an expert witness on behalf of the company. Analyze intervener testimony to formulate responsive testimony and assist with cross-examination strategies.
- Works with other departments to assure development of proper recovery mechanisms.
- Assume fiduciary responsibility for operating the business and provide recommendations on cost improvement measures.
- Administers personnel functions, including recruiting, review and approval of job descriptions and salary classifications, and selection and placement of personnel. Participates in hiring, termination, promoting, assignment and direction of staff.
- Plans day-to-day operations, estimates personnel needs and schedules and assigns work. Evaluate the structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
(Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.)
Supervisor Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires BS/BA or Master's degree and at least five (5) years related forecasting, pricing, or financial experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong analytical ability to gather and summarize data, find solutions to various administrative problems and prioritize work
- Experience with SAS or other statistical programming language, SQL and relational databases
Manager Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, mathematics, economics or related field of study.
- Prior supervisory experience with a demonstrated ability to work both independently, and in a team environment.
Pay Rate: Salary determined based on candidates experience and qualifications.
