Position Description:

The Division of General Internal Medicine within the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible physician in Hospice & Palliative Medicine to join as faculty in the section of Supportive of Palliative Care. The Division is seeking faculty members for appointment on the clinical or tenure track at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. Applicants of all experience levels are encouraged to apply.

We are looking for brilliant physicians specializing in Supportive & Palliative Care who will join our program, which manages the Interprofessional Palliative Care inpatient consult service, the Palliative Care Unit (6 beds), the Palliative Care Outpatient Clinic and the Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship.

Education Requirement:


  • Applicants must have a medical degree (or equivalent).


Required Qualifications:


  • Applicants must have a successful completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program.
  • The selected candidate must be eligible for or already possess an active Iowa medical license, DEA and Controlled Substance License.


Certifications:


  • Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (or equivalent international certification). Those trained outside the U.S. with comparable qualifications may also be considered.


Desirable Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated experience in an academic environment is desired.
