Job Summary
The Talent Management Specialist I recruits individuals and develops hiring practices that attract an effective and diverse workforce committed to serving the students of the district. Actively participates in both internal and external recruitment events to meet the specific needs of Milwaukee Public Schools. The salary range is $85,409 - 123,119 (12 months/260 work days).

Qualifications
- A master's degree in education or a related field required. (Certificated)
- 5+ years of experience as a fully licensed teacher or other certificated employee in a K-12 setting required.
- One year of experience as an administrator in a school system.
OR
- A bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a relevant field required. (Classified)
- 5+ years of experience in a high-volume Human Resources department with experience in recruiting, compliance, and major initiatives required.
- Experience in a large, urban district is preferred.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Responsibilities
- Recruits and hires qualified and diversified staff. Collaborates with other Human Resources personnel to develop and implement a recruitment plan for Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS).
- Performs activities and procedures related to verification of teacher certification. Ensures that all licensed position candidates are compliant with Department of Public Instruction (DPI) criteria and other regulatory requirements.
- Works collaboratively with Milwaukee Public Schools University (MPSU) Development Specialists and the Talent Management (TM)
- Licensing Specialist to provide clear information, support and guidance to unlicensed applicants and employees.
- Understands and adheres to the processes and protocols set by TM for all recruitment and hiring scenarios. This includes the City of Milwaukee Civil Service Rules and the MPS Board Policies.
- Reviews budget paperwork, requests to fill, and vacancy information with the understanding of MPS budget codes, position numbers, and job classes to ensure school and department positions are posted and filled with qualified candidates.
- Develops and maintains applicant/candidate tracking methods which enable management to collect consistent information about the employee population and to develop strategic initiatives to remain relevant to the overall business strategy.
- Ensures that all new hire paperwork is submitted correctly and in a timely manner. Tracks applicant and employee status on a database and generates reports as requested.
- Administers and coordinates employee assignments and reassignments in accordance with district practice and procedures. Hires appropriate staff for summer school programs.
- Maintains relationships with central service departments regarding staffing and other personnel issues. Responds to concerns of principals and other staff related to staffing issues.
- Provides clear and consistent communication to applicants, school and department leaders, and district staff.
- Participates in inter- and intra-departmental staff meetings and conferences on matters relating to the recruitment and hiring process. Serves on committees and attends meetings to gather and/or provide information relative to staffing and the Human Resources Strategy.
- Provides empathetic and responsive customer service to applicants, employees, departments, and other stakeholders.
- Serves as the lead specialist on special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
- Keeps abreast of developments in the profession by reading pertinent literature and publications and by attending professional meetings, workshops, conferences, etc.
- Supervises, supports, trains, and develops a member of the Human Resources Assistant team.
- Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
