Position Summary

Acuen is currently recruiting for a Lab Operations Manager to support our operations in Santa Ana, California.

The Lab Operations Manager is responsible to plan, deliver and promote services that meet client needs within a specific regional or geographical location in a manner that complies with safety, quality and financial goals, while providing strategic solutions to clients that enhance Acuren's position as a trusted business partner and reduce their costs to operate.

To succeed in this role, an individual must demonstrate the following competencies essential to performing its key responsibilities:

    Prior certification as an NDT Level 3 with a minimum of 5+ years experience per SNT-TC-1A and NAS410 standards in Radiographic required.
  • Experience working with complete understanding of quality system requirements of AS9100 including reviewing and editing quality procedures
  • Conducting NADCAP Audits in NDT PT, RT and MT including AS9100.


Responsibilities

  • Work as a team with the current Responsible NDT Level 3
  • Maintain safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards (ASTM E1742, ASTM E2698, ASTM E2033, ASME Sect V, AWS, NavSea, Mil-Std-2175, AWS D17.1, etc.) and practices and to legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards or concerns.
  • Set-up and calibrate equipment.
  • Conduct tests with appropriate NDT Technique
  • Interpret, evaluate, and document results
  • The ideal candidate shall be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the method in which certified and shall be capable of directing the work of trainees and Level I personnel
  • The individual shall be familiar with the codes, standards and other contractual documents that control the method as utilized by the employer
  • Write procedures, create procedures and techniques.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Operate and maintain radiographic equipment, as necessary and where applicable.
  • Must be capable of being deemed trustworthy and reliable in your work
  • To provide direct and constant supervision of the radiographer employees when they operate radiographic equipment.
  • Hiring, retaining and managing the performance of staff who possess the necessary technical and safety qualifications to perform the available work.
  • Ensuring compliance with company specific safety and quality programs and the appropriate use of procedures and administrative controls.
  • Approving technical training recommendations.
  • Ensuring appropriate policies and procedure are in place and support ongoing service improvements.
  • Providing oversight to administrative functions to ensure accurate and efficient completion of work.
Manage financial performance by:
  • Providing ongoing oversight and analysis of monthly financial reports, and monthly billable time reports, making necessary adjustments;
  • Reviewing and approving operational expenses, DTR's and expense submissions;
  • Participating in in the development of operational and capital budgets;
  • Defining limits of authority with staff to ensure wise decisions are made with respect to the company resources;
  • Effectively managing resources including facilities, and equipment to ensure safe, secure, cost-effective and reliable use.
Ensure Service Excellence & Perform Business Development including:
  • Collaborating with other Acuren leaders to build and develop client relationships based on the provision of exceptional service and ethical business practices;
  • Engaging productively with existing and new clients to expand regional service offerings;
  • Improving value of services offered and demonstrating innovative technology to customers;
  • Utilizing site specific metrics to improve productivity and improve customer service;
  • Seeking clarification of the client's expectations, clearly defining work-scopes, monitoring project execution and verifying customer satisfaction.
Other work duties as assigned.


Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

The position requires the following skills and abilities:

  • Prior certification as an NDT Level 3 with a minimum of 5+ years experience per SNT-TC-1A and NAS410 standards in Radiographic required.
  • Experience working with complete understanding of quality system requirements of AS9100 including reviewing and editing quality procedures
  • Demostrated experience conducting NADCAP Audits in NDT PT, RT and MT including AS9100.
  • Strong managerial skills with the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills to manage difficult customer interactions
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Consistently demonstrates their understanding of, and compliance with, responsibilities under the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations, and Acuren Safety and Quality Management Systems, policies and procedures.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree in relevant field, supplemented by a minimum of 8 years of operational experience in an industrial/technical environment, 3 years of which is supervisory.
  • NDT or other technical Certifications are preferred, as is knowledge specific to the technical field of assignment.
  • Prior certification as an NDT Level 3 with a minimum of 5+ years experience per SNT-TC-1A and NAS410 standards in Radiographic required.
