Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Manager to lead our Active Directory & Entra Platform Engineering team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the architecture, implementation, and management of secure, scalable identity platforms across Active Directory (AD) and Microsoft Entra. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in identity and access management, strong automation and security capabilities, and a proven ability to lead globally distributed engineering teams using modern, agile methodologies.

What you'll do:

  • Lead and develop a global team of engineers responsible for the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of enterprise Active Directory and Entra platforms.

  • Provide technical leadership for Active Directory and Entra architecture, ensuring alignment with organizational security and operational standards.

  • Oversee and manage domain migrations, including forest consolidations and restructures.

  • Drive the transition of application authentication/authorization from legacy AD models to cloud-native Entra ID (Azure AD).

  • Design and implement highly available and resilient identity infrastructures, including robust backup and disaster recovery strategies.

  • Ensure identity platforms are compliant with security and regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, HITRUST, and internal audit standards.

  • Leverage tools like Purple Knight, Tenable Identity Exposure, and Microsoft Defender to continuously assess and improve AD/Entra security posture.

  • Drive automation initiatives using PowerShell, Python, and Ansible to improve operational efficiency and consistency.

  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions to support infrastructure-as-code and identity automation processes.

  • Collaborate with security, compliance, application, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless and secure integration of identity services.

  • Manage budgeting, vendor relationships, and capacity planning related to identity infrastructure and tools.

  • Lead teams using Agile methodologies, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog grooming via tools like Jira and Confluence.

  • Foster a high-performance engineering culture that emphasizes innovation, accountability, continuous improvement, and career development.

What you'll bring to Zelis:
  • 10+ years of experience in identity and access management with deep expertise in Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).

  • Proven experience leading complex AD domain migrations and Entra integration projects.

  • Strong knowledge of modern authentication protocols including SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and WS-Fed.

  • Hands-on experience migrating legacy authentication methods to modern cloud identity platforms.

  • Experience working with security posture tools and driving a vulnerability program to adhere to corporate policies.

  • Experience designing and supporting highly available AD and Entra environments including backup and disaster recovery planning.

  • Strong scripting and automation experience (PowerShell required, Python and Ansible preferred).

  • Proficient in CI/CD practices and tooling, such as GitHub Actions or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of ITIL service management practices and DevOps methodologies.

  • In-depth understanding of compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience managing globally distributed teams and building high-performing engineering cultures.

  • Experience working in Agile environments using tools like Jira and Confluence.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence technical direction.

  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Security Engineer, Identity and Access Administrator) preferred.

  • Familiarity with hybrid identity architectures and Zero Trust security models preferred.
