JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing corrective and preventive light maintenance and handle minor upkeep of building systems including HVAC, electrical, painting, plumbing, and refrigeration, including regular inspection of the building and/or equipment to determine need and extent of service and/or repair.

Essential Functions:

  • Works with the management to ensure the proper handling and storage of any hazardous waste, materials, chemicals, or gases
  • Records and maintains data vital to the operation and maintenance of the facility and equipment.
  • Preventative and/or corrective maintenance of laboratory equipment, cabinets, benches, hoods, floor, roof and building improvements and repairs, as necessary
  • May serve as a backup for Sample Pickup and Field Sampling, as needed
  • Complies with and promotes Personnel, Safety, and Quality Programs
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities, as needed
  • Clean facilities regularly
  • Regularly perform maintenance jobs and light repairs
  • Regularly perform various landscaping tasks
  • Fill gaps and provide painting services
  • Perform lightning installation and carpeting
  • Repair equipment and various machines and appliances
  • Identify, document and report maintenance and repair work
  • Suggest additional repairs when identified and needed
  • Other job duties such as special projects and special assignments, as may be assigned at the discretion of the Company.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience as a handyman
  • 4 years of experience with appropriate electrical tools and equipment
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems
  • Positive attitude and good communication skills
  • Problem solver
  • Attention to detail

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools; talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit.
  • The employee must occassionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision and depth perception.

Working Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in a general office environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This job may require travel less than 20%
