DESCRIPTION

Under supervision, incumbent will serve as a tester for a major NIA funded multisite study of interventions for cognitive and brain aging within the Department of Psychiatry. Duties involve assisting with testing subjects in a cognitive/neuropsychological and medical test battery, scoring the cognitive test battery, and assisting the project manager and investigators as needed with research project tasks such as coordination of subject scheduling, travel, screening, purchasing and maintaining test materials, data entry, assisting with supplemental studies, etc. Assist with other project and miscellaneous duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Theoretical knowledge or degree in Psychology or related field preferred as typically attained by a Bachelor's degree.

  • Experience in administering and scoring computer-based and paper-and-pencil neuropsychological assessments that measure immediate and delayed memory, cognitive control/executive function, etc. in English.

  • Experience in achieving proficiency in carrying out and scoring clinical interviews and performance-based tests (i.e., tests of ability to carry out tasks of daily living).

  • Excellent oral communication skills for conducting assessments in person with participants in English. Ability to read clearly and articulate out loud.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work as a member of a team with other staff members and faculty, and to test and motivate research subjects.

  • Demonstrated organization skills to keep accurate, retrievable electronic and paper records.

  • Ability to use tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality in relation to research subjects (e.g., maintain HIPAA privacy and rights of human research subjects).

  • Proficiency with PC and software such as Word, Excel, electronic communication.

  • Proven ability to photocopy, keep accurate records, file, update computerized administrative files, conduct computerized library searches.

  • Demonstrated understanding of research study of interventions for cognitive and brain aging

  • Experience with testing subjects in a cognitive/neuropsychological and medical test battery

  • Experience with these specific assessment instruments: NIH Toolbox (computerized neuropsychological test battery), Sustained Attention Response Task and Consonant-Vowel Odd-Even (computerized tests of cognitive control), Stroop Switch Keyboard (computerized Stroop test), Paragraph and List Recall tests (paper and pencil), Neuro-QOL-Cognitive Function, PROMIS assessments of anxiety, depression, sleep, and satisfaction and ability to perform social roles, Observed Tasks of Daily Living, Cognitive and Affective Mindfulness Scale-Revised, Falls Efficacy Scale.

  • Experience in conducting neuropsychological testing and administering questionnaires, clinical interviews, and performance based tests with older adults.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with MRI.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

  • Must be able to work weekends, nights, and overtime if needed.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $55,374 - $66,064 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $26.52 - $31.64

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
