Job Summary

Works closely with the Director of Program Administration in planning and executing all aspects of the Sprinternship and other career-facing initiatives of the Break Through Tech program at FIU, including developing corporate partnerships to increase internship opportunities.

  • Ensures that the Break Through Tech Sprinternship programs career related goals are met. Assists in leading and managing the Break Through Tech program at FIU. Contributes to the planning, development and implementation of the project goals, programs, and initiatives to achieve success.
  • Recruits qualified employers for the Sprinternship program, pursues strategic partnerships with employers and/or workforce development organizations.
  • Leverages University's career development resources, alumni relationships, and other programs in order to increase and diversify the number of employers recruiting FIU College of Engineering and Computing undergraduate students for internships and full-time hire.
  • Recruits qualified students for the Sprinternship program, and prepares/supports them throughout their participation in career access programs at FIU.
  • Plans and executes employer-facing events, student and employer info sessions to serve the goals of the career-facing programs.
  • manages student and employer data using tools like Salesforce, Qualtrics, and SharePoint. Tracks participation, outcomes, and generates reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • develops and distributes student and employer communications, and social media content to support outreach and engagement. Actively engages on professional platforms such as LinkedIn for the purpose of recruitment of employers and communicating the mission of the program to all stakeholders.
  • Coordinates with university departments to process student stipends and accept employer payments. Manages the purchasing process via use of department p-card in compliance with related FIU policies.
  • Assists with supervision of peer mentors, volunteers, or student assistants supporting career access programming.
  • Leads the career preparation of current and prospective undergraduate students by utilizing best practices and developing strategies and programs in collaboration with the Program Director..
  • Serves as liaison between the Break Through Tech team, the national Break Through Tech team, the Knight Foundation School of Computer and Information Science and other departments within the College of Engineering and Computing, as well as external constituents.
  • Serves as the University's credit card user for departmental transactions. Adheres to University's rules and regulations.
  • Assists with events related to the mission of the Knight Foundation School of Computing & Information Sciences, including those that may involve the participation of high school students under the age of 18.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, education, or related field and six (6) years of related work experience or Master's degree in business, education, or related field and four (4) years of related work experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience promoting/selling internships and student programs in tech as it relates to hiring and employer development.
  • Experience leading programs in an academic and/or corporate environment that have a technology orientation and a talent development/training focus.
  • Experience working with college students and education programs.
