The incumbent must provide optimal patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of neonatal, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and families. The incumbent must also demonstrate the ability to work with the physical, motor/sensory adaptation, cognitive, and psychosocial needs specific to the population being served and meet standards of quality as measured by the Unit/Department age specific competency standards. The incumbent must competently operate imaging equipment and related machinery, verify and execute physicians' orders for diagnostic and therapeutic exams while ensuring the proper preparation for such exams and the safety and well-being of patients during procedures. The major challenges to this position include being able to understand and apply the technical skills required to operate mammographic equipment. This position must be proficient in the use of the MAMMOGRAPHY UNIT. Position performs breast biopsies, wire loc, and other image-guided procedures. Other duties include, but are not limited to, billing, supplies stocking, file maintenance, medical charting, informed consent documentation, quality improvement studies, patient history/symptoms acquisition. Determines the best method of obtaining optimal examinations while ensuring patient safety; regulates patient flow, consults with radiologists to determine contrast media and makes necessary corrections to improve image quality. May be required to assist other modalities within the department or Renown Health System. The incumbent is required to perform diagnostic radiographic, mammograms and fluoroscopic radiographic procedures of the human body utilizing radiographic principles according to the guidelines recommended by Merrill's Anatomy and Positioning reference manual and Renown Regional Medical Center Diagnostic Radiographic Department Policy and Procedure manual. This position has the authority to make technical decisions that will provide the best possible mammographic image quality. The Lead Radiologic Technologist must demonstrate ability to lead staff in the day to day work flow of the department. - Formal knowledge of safe radiation standards for employees and patients.

- Knowledge of medical terminology, nomenclature, and the ability to correctly interpret physician orders.
- Knowledge and continuing awareness of contrast medial applications: appropriateness, dosages, precautions, and reactions.

- Ability to work independently and improvise as needed to obtain optimal studies.
- Abilty to obtain supplies, troubleshoot and repair minor equipment problems, and contact repair persons when necessary.
- Ability to simultaneously communicate, plan efficient exam work flow, interpret physician orders and medical chart information, maintain logbooks and billing responsibilities.
- Maintains equipment maintenance records.
- Coordinating equipment maintenance & PM's with vendors.
- Producing staff work schedules.
- Producing staff vacation schedules after leave request has been approved by supervisor.
- Day to day management of patient flow including adding on same-day patients.
- Working with management to implement new procedures and services.
- Staff education for new procedures.
- Participate in, and occasionally lead monthly staff meetings.
- Student liaison with TMCC 1st & 2nd year students.
- Maintenance of radiation safety badges.
- Ability to become CPR certified within sixty (60) days of employment.
- Possesses a thorough working knowledge of diagnostic or appropriate sub-department specialty principles including anatomy and physics.
- Demonstrates basic computer skills.
This position does provide direct and indirect patient care.
