Job Overview

As an Application Engineer, you'll be part of our dynamic sales team, delivering smart, high-performance solutions that go beyond the standard. In this role, you'll develop engineered quotations and tailored systems by combining your technical (mechanical) expertise with a strong customer focus to help drive both sales growth and customer satisfaction. Serving as a vital link between engineering and sales, you'll work directly with clients to understand their needs and support manufacturing excellence, all while helping advance Ingersoll Rand's mission to Make Life Better.

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with End Customers, Distributors, OEMs, and Manufacturer's Representative network
  • Generate and follow up on quotes, ensuring timely, and accurate responses.
  • Organize and provide weekly updates of quote and bid activity, new orders, forecasts of pending orders, etc.
  • Support outside sales representatives with technical data, pricing, and product availability.
  • Technical sales - work with other ASE's, Regional Sales Managers, Manufacturers Representatives, Intercompany offices, consulting engineers, end users, etc., to assess the potential application of Gardner Denver blowers, accessories, controls, and services to meet the engineer's or owner's specified requirements and needs.
  • Obtain quotes and data from suppliers of motors, valves, silencers, controls, and other equipment accessories required to complete a competitive blower package.
  • Prepare a comprehensive and competitive blower proposal package for presentation via the RSM, Representative, Intercompany office or direct to the customer as required.
  • Accept and process Customer orders by reading the P.O., assisting in negotiating mutually acceptable terms and conditions of sale and verifying the P.O. is acceptable per company policy. Assist with entering the order into the ERP system by preparing supporting file information detailing the scope of equipment and work sold and defining any special requirements for documentation, testing, inspections, and start up or field-testing requirements in preparation for hand off to a project manager for execution.
  • Work with Engineering, Operations, RSM's, Manufacturing Representatives, and others to resolve any issues related to bids, quotes, submittals, orders in process (lead time, quality, delivery, etc.), post shipment issues (Start up, quality, etc.,) as needed.
  • Provide training and instruction as required to the Manufacturers' Representatives, OEMs, RSM's, engineers, and end users on the features and benefits of Excelsior supplied blowers and accessories.



Requirements:

  • Must be a highly technical professional, ideally with a bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or environmental engineering; Or equivalent experience gained through hands-on industry work.
  • 3+ years of applications/inside technical sales experience
  • Experience with engineered industrial rotating equipment.
  • Must be action-oriented, taking the initiative without hesitation.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality work quickly and consistently-speed and accuracy are essential in this role.
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency, with the ability to act decisively and respond effectively to shifting priorities.



Core Competencies

  • Technical Sales Expertise: Ability to assess customer requirements and develop engineered blower system proposals, leveraging technical knowledge and product performance data.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Skilled at working with Sales, Engineering, Operations, and external reps to manage quotes, resolve technical issues, and ensure successful project execution.
  • Customer-Focused Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to engage with end users, OEMs, and reps, ensuring accurate specifications and delivering tailored solutions that drive customer satisfaction.
  • Project & Process Proficiency: Competent in order processing, ERP usage, quoting tools, and coordinating all technical documentation and order specifications with precision and urgency.



Preferences:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or environmental engineering
  • Experience with estimating tools and Compressor/Blower & Vacuum performance selection tools.
  • Experience with SAGE or other ERP

  • This position is onsite from our Blandon, PA site
