Overview

Oversee and evaluate the maintenance strategies for all regions in Substation Operations. Review equipment data and trends on SF6 containing equipment to determine maintenance and capital strategy, ensure compliance with state and federal regulations on greenhouse gas emissions, prepare dashboards to facilitate data gathering, and review health index to ensure alignment with capital strategy. Attend project meetings to identify maintenance training needs and future maintenance costs. Review incidents and facilitate investigations with the Substation Maintenance team and engineering. Track asset improvement opportunities and ensure timely completion. Work with vendors on any equipment warranty issues. Work with maintenance crews to ensure compliance and adherence to procedures.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Must be proficient in asset maintenance programs.
  • Accountable for safety, environmental compliance and productivity in the organization by developing systems, procedures, and strategies on tracking greenhouse gas equipment in SSO.
  • Reviews equipment data and corrective maintenance trends; makes recommendations on preventative and predictive maintenance strategies accordingly.
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates meetings with peers to ensure capital strategy aligns with maintenance needs.
  • Plans, schedules and coordinates training for new equipment. Coordinate with vendors, when required.
  • Evaluates job execution and ensures compliance with all procedures and safety standards.
  • Attends daily management meetings to report job progress, is fully knowledgeable of work scopes and communicate updates accordingly.
  • Ensures compliance with environmental regulations, program procedures applicable to Substation Operations
  • Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills to track and manage a variety of tasks in a fast-paced setting.
  • Must be committed to fostering a Zero Accident Culture, Diversity and Inclusion, Achieving Operational Excellence, Developing an Effective Cost Management Culture, Enhancing the Customers Experience, adheres to the Company's Standards of Business conduct and other Company procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety ("EH&S").
  • Accountable for conducting On the Job training (OJT) and documented job site safety exchanges.
  • Adheres to Company rules and terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Establishes appropriate disciplinary action, conducts interviews, participates in settlement of grievances, and evaluates subordinates work performance.
  • Perform the function of a subject matter expert for selected Substation Operations Procedures.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years work experience Work experience relevant to operation and maintenance of power generation, transmission or distribution equipment. or
  • Associate's Degree and 4 years work experience Work experience relevant to operation and maintenance of power generation, transmission or distribution equipment. or
  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years work experience Work experience relevant to operation and maintenance of power generation, transmission or distribution equipment.
Relevant Work Experience
  • The ability to analyze performance trends and make recommendations for efficient and reliable maintenance of Substation equipment. Required and
  • The ability to comprehend and interpret engineering drawings (including schematics, one-line diagrams, HTODs) and be able to provide marked prints of field conditions. Required and
  • Must have knowledge of safe work practices/procedures, operating orders, work permits and use of appropriate personal protective equipment. Required and
  • Must have excellent leadership and communication skills along with the ability to work as part of a team. Required and
  • Working knowledge of the Dielectric Fluid System and Substation equipment. Required and
  • A thorough working knowledge of SSO's GEI's and Substation Operating Procedures as well as the Maximo/Engage Work Management System. Required and
  • Must possess strong decision-making skills and strong communication skills. Required and
  • The ability to work effectively with others in a cross-departmental platform is a must. Required and
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
Physical Demands
  • Ability to respond to system emergencies
  • Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
  • Perform extended driving through heavy traffic and severe off-road conditions
  • Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, and/or other equipment
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
  • Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
  • Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator, without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations
  • Stand, walk, and climb ladders and stairs for the duration of the workday
  • Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
  • Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
  • Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
  • Work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends, and holidays
  • Use personal vehicle(s), and be able to transport, store, and secure company laptops and other job-related equipment in vehicle. Acknowledge that reimbursement for use of personal vehicle is available through the company mileage procedure
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
