Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Buyer-Planner to join our company's supply chain team. The Buyer-Planner will play a critical role in ensuring the timely availability of materials and components required for production and distribution.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of supply chain management principles, and the ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders to optimize inventory levels and minimize costs. As a Buyer-Planner, you will contribute to the efficiency and success of our operations by overseeing material planning, forecasting, inventory control, and supplier management processes.
Job Function
- Develop and implement effective material planning strategies to ensure an uninterrupted supply of materials and components for production and distribution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, production, sales, and logistics, to forecast material requirements and align them with production schedules and customer demands.
- Monitor inventory levels, analyze demand patterns, and adjust material orders and schedules accordingly to optimize inventory turns and minimize stock outs and excess inventory.
- Conduct regular analysis of historical data, market trends, and supplier performance to improve accuracy in demand forecasting and maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of materials, resolve any supply issues, and maintain strong relationships to secure favorable pricing and terms.
- Implement and maintain effective inventory control systems, including the use of inventory management software, to track material movements, monitor stock levels, and minimize carrying costs.
- Evaluate and identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions in material planning and inventory management, and lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare regular reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to material planning, inventory levels, supplier performance, and other relevant metrics.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to material planning and supply chain management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience as a Buyer-Planner, Production Planner, or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with fabricated parts and ability to read CAD drawings is a plus
- Make/Buy Analysis experience
- Experience with ITAR and DFAR is preferred
- Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles, including material planning, demand forecasting, inventory control, and supplier management.
- Proficiency in using inventory management software and advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and build relationships with suppliers.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and experience with process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma is a plus.
- Degree in business, logistics, inventory management, or a related field preferred.
