JOB DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Director of Major Giving plays a key role in advancing the mission of Centerstone by managing and developing a portfolio of high-level donors and prospects. Reporting to the Major Gifts Officer, the Director is responsible for acquiring, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors with capacity to give $10,000+ annually. This position requires a results-driven professional with excellent relationship-building skills, interpersonal skills, strategic thinking and a passion for philanthropy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Portfolio Development & Management: Manage a portfolio of [100-125] qualified major gift prospects and donors with a focus on personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.

Donor Engagement: Build meaningful, long-term relationships with donors and prospects through regular meetings, calls, personalized communication, and engagement events.

Solicitation and Proposal Development: Develop tailored gift strategies and proposals in collaboration with the Major Gifts Officer, other Foundation staff, leadership (including board members) to maximize donor engagement and philanthropic impact.

Collaboration: Establishes strong partnerships within and across teams to align donor messaging and identify major funding opportunities.

Moves Management: Utilize a moves management process to track donor activity, next steps, and progress toward fundraising goals.

Stewardship: Develops and implements strategies to nurture ongoing relationships with donors. Ensure donors receive timely personalized acknowledgments, impact reports, and recognitions that reflect the organization's appreciation and transparency.

Travel & Events: Represents the organization at key donor events, site visits, and meetings (some travel).

Technology and Documentation: Maintain appropriate documentation for assigned portfolio donors and prospects in donor CRM, including interactions and cultivation/solicitation plans. Utilizes technology tools (i.e., Monday.com, DonorSearch) in project management, research and other aspects to support success.

Culture: Promotes and nurtures a culture of philanthropy internally; ensures effective, positive working relationships.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Regional Knowledge: Assigned to one region and requires a working knowledge of key constituents and other aspects of the assigned region, including identifying potential opportunity for Centerstone related to growth of philanthropy. However, may include travel outside of the region to other areas for development of donor relationships as identified.
  • Articulate (excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills)
  • High-energy and goal-oriented
  • Track record in major gifts development and building and managing portfolios of donors and prospects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel). Experience with CRM (customer relationship management software) such as Salesforce or Raiser's Edge and prospect research software such as DonorSearch.
  • Ability to evaluate problems accurately and exercise appropriate judgment and discretion when dealing with donors, employees, board members, and volunteers; ability to work and solve problems both independently and in a team environment to move projects from inception to completion
  • Enthusiastic, action-oriented approach with strong work ethic; fantastic customer service ethic with high expectations for quality; ability to work independently and in team
  • Licensed driver with vehicle; ability to travel throughout the year and work flexible times, as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Level

Bachelor's degree in communications or related field required.

Years of Experience

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising at a major gifts level (mid-major level will be considered if experience demonstrates ability to develop and grow donors to major gifts level)
  • Track record of asking and closing gifts of $10K+
  • Major or Capital Campaign experience preferred

$90,000.00--$135,030.00
