Why Intern with the AAA-The Auto Club Group (ACG)

The ACG Internship Program aims to provide a rich, relevant, and rewarding experience for college students. Interns will have weekly touch-bases with the Internship Team and meet virtually with executives from around the organization. The goal of the program is to provide interns the opportunity to connect, network, and grow as they work on department-specific projects and is designed to enhance the skills and abilities of young professionals as well as to identify and attract future talent for our organization.

In this position with the AAA-ACG Innovation Team, you will:

Gain valuable experience working in a forward-thinking, cross-functional innovation environment while applying core finance and accounting principles to real-world business challenges. You will work alongside our innovation and design teams to provide financial insights and analysis to support product testing, business model validation, and decision-making processes.

A DAY IN THE LIFE of an AAA-ACG Innovation Finance Intern

ACG is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical student to join our team as a Finance/Accounting Innovation Intern. You will support early-stage product initiatives with financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic analysis. Your contributions will help evaluate the financial viability and potential impact of new ideas developed by the innovation team.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Build financial forecasts and simple financial models to support business planning and decision-making
  • Perform SWOT analyses and assist in risk assessment of innovation projects
  • Conduct market research to inform cost assumptions and revenue opportunities
  • Analyze performance data from early-stage product tests
  • Prepare Excel-based reports, dashboards, and summaries for leadership
  • Assist in identifying KPIs and success metrics for initiatives
  • Work cross-functionally with innovation leads, designers, and business stakeholders
  • Gain exposure to innovation processes, including design thinking and agile methodologies

WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO

Required Qualifications:

Must be:

  • At least a sophomore, fully enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program at an accredited college/university, with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Majoring in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related field
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Must have:

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, organization skills, and strong situational adaptability
  • Ability to clearly communicate financial insights to non-financial audiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Experience with PC software applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, charts, formulas, what-if analysis, etc.)

Knowledge of:

  • Basic math calculations to accurately perform various types of transactions
  • Basic forecasting and budgeting techniques
  • Financial statements, income analysis, and key business metrics
  • Common business frameworks (e.g., SWOT, ROI, break-even analysis)

Ability to:

  • Learn the full range ACG products, services and functions to perform the responsibilities of assigned job
  • Assist internal/external client in response to questions, requests and resolution of problems
  • Translate qualitative business ideas into quantitative models
  • Think critically and challenge assumptions
  • Review records, system files, reports, etc. to ensure correct information is reflected and/or assigned.
  • Gather data and prepare/trackreports
  • Assist and/or develop reports/presentations/recommendations for management review
  • Communicate effectively with others in a work environment and with the public
  • Rotate within departments/field location to cross-train on various business line functions
  • Work independently and on teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn and adapt to corporate cultures and processes and provide own relevant and effective experience and best practices
  • Be comfortable in an environment where responsibilities are broadly defined, resources are limited, and collaboration is critical to success
  • Ability to provide good service to internal and/or external customers
  • Familiarity with financial modeling and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Prior internship or project experience in a finance or business analytics role
  • Exposure to innovation, startups, or entrepreneurial coursework
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and iterative problem-solving

Compensation and Time Commitment

The Auto Club Group will provide compensation of $18.50/hour for 20 hours/week. The interns will be expected to report during core hours Monday through Friday for the duration of the program's fourteen (14) weeks. The program will run from August 25th to December 5th, 2025.

Work Environment

This position is currently able to work remotely from a home office location for day-to-day operations unless occasional travel for meetings, collaborative activities, or team building activities is specified by leadership. This is subject to change based on amendments and/or modifications to the ACG Flex Work policy. Due to the remote nature of this role, the intern must have access to reliable internet and provide their own computer capable of running Excel and communication tools. This internship is Bring Your Own Device.

ACG's Compensation philosophy is to provide a market-competitive structure of fair, equitable and performance-based pay to attract and retain excellent talent that will enable ACG to meet its short and long-term goals. ACG utilizes a geographic pay differential as part of the base salary compensation program.
