We are seeking a Combat Systems Alignment Technician

Located on site at NSWC PHD Port Hueneme, CA

ESN is seeking Technicians to provide U.S. Navy Combat Systems engineering and technical support to Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme (NSWC PHD), Combat Systems Alignment Branch.

Responsibilities include:



  • Accomplishing data collecting using precision leveling equipment/systems, fixtures, and equipment for alignment of combat and weapon systems aboard ship.
  • Setting up and properly operating various alignment equipment in accordance to prescribed methods. Functioning within an alignment team in one of several roles; instrument person, data recorder or Analog/Digital Inclination Data System operator.
  • Repairing, replacing, and adjusting equipment or components, replacing worn parts such as gaskets and seals.
  • Inspecting components of equipment for accurate assembly and for physical defects such as loose screws, nuts connections and frayed wires.
  • Analyzing, compiling, and providing data collection results inputs to final Combat System Alignment Reports and other documentation.


Qualifications/Education:



  • High School Diploma.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) years' experience working on U.S. Navy Combat Systems with some knowledge of Weapons System Alignment Adaptation Data procedures.
  • Experience with various data acquisition equipment and test equipment.


Preferred but not required:



  • U. S Navy certification in Fire Control Navy Enlisted Codes (NECs) related to shipboard combat systems or component weapon systems.
  • Experience with use and maintenance of star references, theodolites, API and FARO lasers, precision scales, and other equipment used to measure and verify shipboard reference points and lines.


Skills and Abilities:



  • Candidates must have ability to apply Combat System Alignment principles and theory, including math and geometry involving rectangular graphs and plots and polar coordinate plots.
  • Aptitude and proven ability to quickly grasp the functional features and configuration set-up of all alignment instruments, equipment, devices, and fixtures used in shipboard alignments.
  • Ability to collect, maintain and analyze data to be used in formal Combat System Alignment Reports.
  • Proven experience in repairing, calibrating, and maintaining test and support equipment (preferably Combat System Alignment related equipment).
  • Candidate must have exceptional written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.


Other Job Requirements:



  • Must possess a SECRET DoD Security Clearance on date of hire.
  • Must be able to carry 40lbs of Alignment Equipment over short distances.
  • Must be able to climb vertical ladders, and to stand or knee for prolonged periods of time.
  • 20-30% Travel to ships in home ports; San Diego CA, Norfolk VA, Mayport FL, Pearl Harbor HI, and occasionally overseas.


Security Clearance:



  • Must hold an active DoD SECRET clearance or at a minimum an Interim SECRET clearance.
