Responsibilities

Copper Hills Youth Center, located in West Jordan, Utah, is a 24/7 secure residential treatment center (behavioral health) for male and female adolescents aged 12 through 17. We counsel, teach and mentor students who have psychiatric disorders. Our goal is to provide treatment that results in positive changes, allowing these youth to return to their families and communities.

Copper Hills Youth Center is seeking a full time Assistant Director, Plant Operation (Maintenance). The maintenance team is a vital part of providing the residents with an outstanding environment of care.

The Assistant Dir, Plant Operations is responsible for performing a broad variety of work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds at the facility including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, glazier, masonry, and painting tasks.

  • Completes regular inspections (as required by regulatory agencies) of all electrical, mechanical, and other equipment of the facility. Detects any defects and malfunctions, immediately repairing and refurbishing same.
  • Performs basic rough and finish carpentry work in construction and repair of structures such as partitions, walls, doors, fences, window frames, office furniture, roofs, and shelves.
  • Repairs and treats structures such as floors, showers, sinks, walls, roofs, and carpets. Prepares surfaces and applies paint, enamel, lacquer, varnish, or stain; drywall and mudding, repairs wall coverings.
  • Identifies and performs basic repair of plumbing leaks or breaks; opens clogged lines and drains; replaces washers and other minor parts; maintains and monitors septic system.
  • Will act as the Dir. Plant Operations when the Director is out.

Qualifications

Requirements:

5+ years general maintenance work experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Valid Utah State Drivers License

Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move more than 75 pounds

Must have excellent attendance

Must be able to pass a very extensive background check
