Purpose of Position
Provides the necessary hands-on software expertise to clear MACARs, simulator write-ups, perform modifications and upgrades, and other software related configuration efforts for all sites in the assigned region. Resides in one of the predesignated regional locations.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Evaluate and clear MACAR's, fix or repair as possible
- Reviews simulator engineering specifications, malfunction documents, test requirements, related test data, and aircraft wiring diagrams and schematics, plus all additional related aircraft specific data.
- Designs and implements simulation software across all disciplines such as flight, engines, systems, navigation, and visual systems.
- Repairs software for control loading and motion software and hardware.
- Run and repair quality test guides across all aircraft and simulation systems.
- Performs standardized checkout procedures.
- Transforms engineering flow diagrams into high order computer language and working system models.
- Work with other engineering departments to ensure the simulation meets all test requirements.
- Interface with customers to complete quality testing and correct any discrepancies in simulation.
- Works with other engineering departments, Program Managers and others to smoothly and efficiently effect an integrated total simulation.
- Perform general software troubleshooting and debugging.
- Occasionally perform simulator upgrades, modification, and or changes.
- Provide software configuration control and generate backups for the Host, IOS, DCLS, DMS, AIC Miscellaneous Systems and others as required.
- Coordinate hardware and software repairs, fixes, modification, updates, and changes with the Production Engineering Group as required.
- Perform software engineering and configuration management to ensure continuity between the training center and the customer, FVS and manufacturer.
- Travel, shift work, and special work hours may be required to accomplish some of the above tasks.

Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Computer Engineering, Aeronautical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience
- Minimum 2 years' related experience preferable in simulation; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and expertise for this level usually results from internal progressive experience. However, selection for this position is based on the demonstrated ability of the person to successfully fulfill the requirements listed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Languages: C++ and FORTRAN required. Assembler, C, recommended.
- Operating Systems: Microsoft, UNIX required; OS32 preferred
- Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Able to fly simulator including takeoffs, landings, basic navigation skills and various flight maneuvers.
- Valid Driver's License, where applicable
- Valid current or able to acquire a Passport
