Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our Waterworks team in Falmouth, VA. This individual will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure projects. The Estimator will work closely with sales teams, project managers, engineers, and vendors to support bid preparation, pricing strategy, and project planning.

This is a critical role that directly supports our mission to deliver industry-leading solutions to municipalities, contractors, and utility companies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, material, and labor estimates for waterworks construction and distribution projects.

  • Collaborate with sales representatives, branch staff, and customers to identify project requirements and ensure accurate takeoffs.

  • Perform detailed material takeoffs using digital and manual tools.

  • Source vendor quotes and pricing for pipes, valves, fittings, meters, and related products.

  • Develop and submit competitive bids and proposals in a timely manner.

  • Maintain and update pricing databases, bid logs, and project tracking tools.

  • Attend pre-bid meetings and work closely with customers to understand scope and constraints.

  • Monitor awarded projects to ensure accuracy of estimated vs. actual costs.

  • Partner with operations and procurement teams to support post-award project execution.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of estimating experience in the construction, civil, or waterworks industry.

  • Strong knowledge of water, sewer, and stormwater materials, industry standards, and construction methods.

  • Ability to read and interpret civil site plans and technical drawings.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, AutoBid, or similar tools).

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities

  • Education: High School diploma or GED required

  • Must be able to pass a background check
