Responsibilities

Peraton is looking for an experienced Senior Information Assurance/Security Engineer to join our dynamic in Alexandria, VA.

Peraton has served as the prime contractor for the network contract since its inception in 1984. We provide executive-level government leaders reliable security voice, video, and fax communications anytime, anywhere, in any environment for day-today crisis management.

We provide a secure, worldwide, high-performance communications network comprised of real-time interactive applications operating over a dedicated IP backbone with secure services for complex national and worldwide executive-level communications. Peraton provides the O&M of the network infrastructure and its components. The team provides IT hardware and software to support the goals of the contract, including performance based C4IM services, product support, and O&M for both legacy and newly installed systems. We provide integration for development of hardware and software solutions, and task support for the delivery of system, network, software, and security solutions.

The Senior Information Assurance/Security Engineer is responsible for but not limited to:

    Recommend and implement measures to maintain compliance with ICD 503
  • Manage all aspects of cyber security for systems maintained on site and at customer locations
  • Work closely with program managers, system engineering and other engineering disciplines
  • Brief senior management on all aspects on security engineering
  • Lead and support frequent interaction with government customers
  • Ensure security requirements are addressed in all phases of the system development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Develop required security accreditation documentation under the DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Program (DIACAP) and Federal Risk Management Framework (RMF) as required for assigned systems (National Institute for Standards and Technology, Department of Defense, Special Access Programs, Defense Security Service, National Industrial Security Program)
  • Lead and support security assessment activities needed to obtain and/or maintain the Approval to Operate (ATO) security authorization for assigned systems
  • Identify security risks, threats and vulnerabilities of networks, systems, applications and new technology initiatives (hardware, software, cross-domain solutions, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus systems and software deployment tools)
  • Conduct complex security architecture analysis to evaluate and mitigate issues
  • Validate and test security architecture and design solutions to produce detailed engineering specifications

**This role will be 100% On-site**



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • An Active/current TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or similar technical field) and eight (8) years relevant professional experience; or commensurate education and experience; or Master's degree and six (6) years of relevant experience; or PhD and three (3) years of experience. Highschool Diploma and 12 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree may be accepted.
  • DoDI 8570 IAT or IAM Level 3 compliant professional certification (i.e. CISSP, CISM, GSLC, GCIH, CISA, GCED, or SCNA)
  • Background in Systems Engineering with emphasis on cyber security
  • Experience with configuring, hardening and vulnerability assessment of Windows servers and workstations
  • Experience with configuring, hardening and vulnerability assessment of Network products such as Routers, Switches and Firewalls (CISCO, Juniper)
  • Experience with security assessment and authorization activities required for Federal information systems
  • Experience using security tools such as Nessus/ACAS, STIGs, McAfee, HP WebInspect, Solarwinds Event Manager, and Solarwinds patching tool
  • Experience with the design, implementation, and operation of Intrusion Detection Monitoring systems, sensors, and security taps
  • Experience with the design, implementation, and operation of Host Based Security Systems

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience supporting a Government and/or Department of Defense customer supporting multiple domain classifications
  • Experience with application of DoD IAVAs and STIGs
  • Strong knowledge of the SPLUNK SIEM system, Gigamon monitoring taps, and Palo Alto Firewall systems
  • Ability to generate documentation that describes standard operating procedures, which will be used by operational support personnel
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills in a cybersecurity setting
  • Strong investigative drive and listening skills, self-motivated individuals
  • The ability to work under pressure and be flexible with their time to include off hours support actions during weekends

The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees. Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
