The VP of Trend Intelligence will lead a team responsible for executing on drug trend analysis, solutioning and internal/external messaging, and driving affordability and value for Optum Rx's clients and members with innovative programs. In this role you will work cross-functionally across the organization including trade, data and analytics, clinical, specialty pharmacy, sales teams, formulary/pipeline, finance and operations to publish and act upon client specific trend insights and solutions. This leader will serve as the key thought leader in executing upon our mission of improving member care and outcomes, increasing provider engagement, and lowering client costs while driving the overall business performance of Optum Rx.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Define technical/analytic requirements for drug trend analysis
  • Establish a trend communication strategy in the form of webinars, publications and marketing materials for insights
  • Produce high-quality quarterly Trend deliverables that measure and ultimately advance Optum Rx's client and member services
  • Initiate and perform ad-hoc analysis to proactively define, measure, and predict critical drug trends for our clients, members, and industry at large
  • Work with analytics team to establish trend analytics and comprehensive performance reporting
  • Identify and define new products and champion their development
  • Continually add capabilities within existing products
  • Participate in sales presentations include PBM best and finals
  • Provide thought leadership and integration opportunities to clinical partners within Optum Health and Optum Insights
  • Present internally and externally to promote relevant products

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of healthcare experience performing Trend analytics and bringing innovative solutions to the marketplace in order to improve member care, increase provider engagement, and lower client costs while driving business performance
  • 5+ years of leadership experience within a PBM and/or experience within a Health Plan with PBM interaction or oversight and/or consultant relations
  • Experience working with sales and account management teams in a direct client facing support capacity, including participation in sales presentations and the RFP process
  • Experience working with prescriber engagement strategies and value based care mechanisms
  • Experience working with PBM contract methodologies, rebate mechanisms, and drug pricing
  • Experience in Excel, Power BI
  • Ability to travel up to 30%



Preferred Qualifications:



  • RPh/Pharm D,MBA or related Master's degree
  • 5+ years of leadership experience, preferably team of teams
  • 5+ years of extensive involvement in clinical pharmacy strategy
  • Experience presenting and defending clinical programs/business cases to leadership
  • In-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry from both clinical and business perspective
  • Demonstrated experience regular interface with leadership levels
  • Demonstrated experience working with all levels of cross-functional teams (executives, managers, analysts)
  • Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to motivate others
  • Ability to make judgments about the value of ideas, needs and resources, and to effectively communicate the advantages and disadvantages of each to other decision makers
  • Ability to conceptualize, align and explain strategic vision based upon multiple complex parameters, including healthcare marketplace, market trends, competitor products, emerging technologies, business opportunities, Company goals, client and consultant requests, product value, product development capabilities and product development process
  • Creative, high-energy self-starter with broad background, creative drive, and innovative solutions to business needs
  • Understanding of Clinical products, capabilities and marketplace needs - must think externally and strategically
  • Quickly adaptive to market changes
  • Solid manager and motivator of own team and cross-functional teams

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits re subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $156,400 to $268,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
