Firetrol Protection Systems is seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Designer / Drafter to join our dynamic team. This role plays a crucial part in the design and drafting of fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications. The successful candidate will utilize advanced design software to create layouts and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and layout fire alarm systems using CAD software, ensuring compliance with NFPA codes and standards.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers and project managers to translate project specifications into detailed design documents.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess project requirements and ensure accurate designs.
  • Prepare equipment submittals, shop drawings, and as-built documentation for client review.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to resolve design-related issues.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes affecting fire alarm systems.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree or higher in Fire Protection Technology, Drafting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in fire alarm design or a related field.
  • Proficient in using AutoCAD and other design software.
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes and standards, especially NFPA 72.
  • Experience with fire suppression systems is a plus.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Certifications:

  • Certified in Fire Alarm Design (e.g., NICET Level I or II) is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of performing site visits and climbing ladders as necessary.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
