Provides on-site expertise and general support to the maintenance work force. Provides guidance to maintenance staff (or contractors) working on assignments who have questions or require clarification about specifics tasks or systems. The Senior Facilities Operations Technician is also responsible for assigning jobs to individuals within the department and tracks their progress.

Ensures that all work is completed in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner. All individuals should have the tools, training, and instructions to work safely and complete their tasks (including documentation) as expected.

Reviews work planning and scheduling with the staff for understanding and questions. The Senior Facilities Operations Technician is responsible for providing feedback to staff and contractors on work progress, task completion and quality, and planning and scheduling of activities. Jobs should be planned and executed in an effective manner. Ensures adequate time is allotted for tasks in order to execute completely and with high quality and full compliance.

Ensures that all equipment is in good repair, available for use, and adequate to meet corporate objectives. Out of service time should be minimized and/or planned to avoid impact on production schedule.

Works with other department supervisors to guarantee that first-line maintenance work orders are being performed as assigned and per SOP (where appropriate). The Senior Facilities Operations Technician is accountable for the proper processing of all work orders.

Verifies the qualifications of staff and recommends/provides training as required. Observes performance of staff to assess training needs and skill level. Once needs are identified, the Senior Facilities Operations Technician is responsible for providing the appropriate training efficiently and effectively to ensure understanding and compliance.

Enforces environmental, safety, and cGMP regulations. The Senior Facilities Operations Technician ensures compliance with EPA, OSHA, FDA and other regulations by all maintenance staff. This includes documentation, work practices, and procedures.

Works with all contractors to meet safety, cGMP, insurance and other requirements per Eisai policies. Maintains certificates of insurance and contractors safety program. Monitors activities of outside vendors/contractors while on site to ensure compliance

Focuses on staff and is highly visible and accessible in the operation. At least six hours a day should be focused on the management of maintenance activities and staff execution of job assignments and tasks.

Emphasizes proactive maintenance vs. reactive activities. Encourages all employees to submit work requests and to provide feedback on operation of equipment and systems. This will help ensure that maintenance is planned, scheduled, and performed in the most cost-efficient manner with minimal impact to the production operation.

Implements, maintains, and improves preventive and proactive maintenance programs. The Senior Facilities Operations Technician is responsible for ensuring that the facilities staff is trained on these systems and is qualified to perform the work they have been assigned.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for supporting other technicians in their daily activities. Coordinating workloads and reviewing manpower needs. Review and sign all completed work orders, advise on and issue work orders for any corrective action needed. Monitors systems operation and assures routine preventive maintenance is performed according to established standards.

  • Responsible for supporting and performing maintenance, testing, trouble shooting and repairs on various equipment. Analyzes results and may develop test specification on new as well as equipment already in place. Prepare reports with recommendations for solutions to technical problems. Maintains all logs and required documentation.

  • Monitors the Computerized Maintenance Management System ("CMMS"). Ensures that all data collected by facilities staff is accurate and complete when entered into CMMS. Makes corrections as required (and with proper documentation of changes).

  • Perform all work with adherence to safety and cGMP standards.

  • Responds to urgent/emergency needs as required, making necessary changes to task assignments and schedules and then communicating the revised information as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Inside the Company- all Baltimore departments and employees.

  • Outside the Company- Supplies and parts vendors, equipment company representatives, state and local agencies, etc.

Support - Works on assignments that are extremely complex in nature where independent action and a high degree of initiative are required in resolving problems and developing recommendations. Activities can impact quality, safety and efficacy of drug product and cGMP compliance

Normally receives no instructions on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. Specialized training and instruction as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; undergraduate degree preferred
  • Experience required- At least ten years' experience performing highly technical service work, preferable in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Prior team lead or supervisory experience preferred, but not required
  • Software proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Lotus notes
  • Proven time management skills
  • Demonstrated effective communications both oral and written
  • Ability to execute tasks using critical thinking and effective decision making
  • Other requirements -
    • Ability to lift/carry heavy items (50+ pounds)
    • Must have a valid Driver's license.
    • Must be available for 24-hour emergency response as needed.

Eisai Salary Transparency Language:

The hourly rate for the Sr. Facilities Operations Tech is from :38-49 Under current guidelines, this position is eligible to participate in : Eisai Inc. Annual Incentive Plan.

Final pay determinations will depend on various factors including but not limited to experience level, education, knowledge, and skills.
