Job Summary: Supports all Windows development systems, with continuing support for specific Unix systems. Configures and maintains all development. Assists Project Managers and Software Engineers with new projects and system definitions. Installs operating system patches, software upgrades, software installations, and modifications of Windows systems. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the set-up and administration of our Microsoft Windows and Linux Server environment; including management of back-ups and the deployment of software upgrades and patches.
- Responsible for the purchasing of new hardware and software and providing documentation of corporate systems.
- Works with parent company and third party vendors on various projects.
- Windows Server/NT System(s) administration(including): File & Print, Active Directory, and Proxy, VMWare Serve and Exchange
- Coordinates and analyzes all system change requests to ensure proposed solution meets actual requirements and ensure minimal impact on production system.
- Assists the software/hardware test environment, as needed when problems arise and also assist in verifying bug fixes raised and seeing the complete resolution of the bugs before implemented into production.
- Assigns network privileges including sign-on, network access, in adherence to company policy
- Performs and maintains the corporate backup procedures to ensure minimal loss of data.
- Maintains computer hardware and software inventories and tracking of software licenses.
- Maintains a 24x7 production environment and participate in rotating 'on-call' schedules with other members of the team.
- Assists the network engineer in the configuration and management of networking devices including Cisco switches, routers and firewalls.
- Ensures that the network documentation is up-to-date and that all devices are performing as expected.
- Supports customer personnel in the use and troubleshooting of installed applications.
- Manages all application user access.
- Develops as needed, custom scripts to respond to customer data queries.
- Generates various reports as needed and on a daily basis in order to provide the customer with the most accurate information about their system. Knowledge of Hummingbird and SQLplus reporting tools may be needed to perform this task.
- Maintains Oracle and SQL databases.
- Manages and assists in troubleshooting network communication issues between systems.
- Supports customer personnel in the use and troubleshooting of installed applications.
Minimum Job Requirements: Four year college degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent plus a minimum of two years experience with LANs, PCs, Windows operating systems, and office applications. Advanced capabilities with server hardware and software (IIS, Windows Server/NT) required. Must have a working knowledge of Windows Server, an understanding of the most common communication protocols and equipment, and the ability to utilize LAN-WAN management products. Requires excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact well with people at all levels of management. Advanced capabilities in writing, debugging and enhancing software and scripts preferred.
