Position: Director Finance Location: Columbus, OH (Industrial Automation Group) The Director Finance is responsible for the leadership of all financial reporting, analysis, and planning activities a business Segment of OTC. This position will provide business and financial consulting and strategic support to senior management including preparing executive presentations, financial presentations, expenditure analysis, industry/peer group comparisons, acquisition analysis and other projects requested by senior management. This role leads the analytical needs of the Segment to provide insights and support in delivering profit growth and improved return on investments and is responsible for being the key financial and strategic partner for business functional leadership. Key responsibilities will be providing financial data, support, and guidance related to sales and margin trends, pricing strategies, sales incentive management, customer & channel analysis, product level analysis, and branch/division performance. Position Responsibilities Reporting & Analysis
- Develop and support segment reports and analytics for key performance indicators including sales and profit growth, inventory management, labor utilization, and operating expense management
- Create and manage an effective financial and operational metric system to provide management with concise information on branch performance
- Provide daily and monthly sales and margin reporting and analysis, including tracking of strategic initiatives with recommendations
- Provide financial modeling and financial analysis support for initiative evaluation, acquisitions, and other ad-hoc financial projects
- Support development of sales and management variable compensation programs creating alignment with profit goals
Planning & Forecasting
- Manage financial planning cycles including processes, tools, timeline, and analytics for developing an annual operating plan and branch level profit growth targets
- Develop short term income statement and cash flow forecasts that drive visibility into near term business performance and resource planning decisions
- Assist in preparation and review of 3-5-year strategic growth plans including modeling organic growth initiatives and accretive acquisitions
Financial systems & data
- Identify opportunities to leverage detailed data to drive business decision making
- Leverage systems and data integrity processes to deliver financial information to users with accuracy and utility
- Identify and implement business process changes and/or systems enhancements to improve data capture and support continuous improvement processes
Accounting & Controls
- Direct all aspects of accounting functions for the segment including month end closing procedures and financial reporting processes for non-integrated or newly acquired businesses in the segment
- Lead compliance and reporting activities required by lenders and investors
- Support as required in acquisition and growth related activities, including purchase accounting
- Maintain and implement controls to prevent control weaknesses and improve financial transparency
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA / MBA is a plus
- Minimum of 10 years of related financial experience
- Ability to travel domestically up to approximately 20% of the time; some overnight stays may be required
- Experience with systems implementations and process change
- Experience with manufacturing and/or distribution businesses
- Proven experience as business unit finance leader and business partner
- Strong analytical thinking and quantitative analysis skills
- Exceptional command of financial statements and general ledger
- Creative and efficient financial modeling and return analysis
- Versatile in designing and maintaining data integrity controls through a variety of tools and processes including spreadsheets, financial reporting software, and manual oversight and controls
- Ability to read and interpret contracts and agreements; and advise related financial risks
- Persistent problem solver, including ability to coordinate multi-functional team projects
- Ability to motivate and inspire others by words or action to drive the successful completion towards common organizational/departmental goals and initiatives.
- Strong excel, power point, and data mining and manipulation skills
- Confident and adaptable written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate analysis and recommendations in a concise manner
- Leadership skills with versatility to interact with and influence local and remote resources, and ability to develop and maintain business partnerships and relationships with key departments/leaders to support the strategic direction of the business
