How You'll Make an Impact Dudek is currently seeking a full-time Senior Engineer in our Engineering Team. This position provides planning and design support as part of a project team for water, wastewater, and recycled water projects, predominantly focused on infrastructure related planning and design. The ideal candidate would be a professional engineer with 5+ plus years of experience in water infrastructure related civil engineering. This position will be based out of our Liberty Station or Encinitas locations. Water resources professionals at Dudek work on innovative and relevant projects, frequently in a cross-discipline environment. Hybrid Schedule, minimum of 3 days in office per week with option for additional remote flexibility after the first year of work. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assisting the design of water, wastewater and/or conveyance and treatment processes and facilities, open channel hydraulics, closed conduit hydraulics, pump stations, lift stations, reservoirs/storage facilities, mechanical piping design, linear pipeline design, water distribution systems, gravity sewer systems, and treatment equipment, including development of project plans, specification packages, calculations packages, and construction cost estimates; preparation of preliminary design and basis of design technical memorandums/reports.
  • Leading hydraulic modeling and capacity analyses of pressure (water/recycled water) and open channel flow (sewer) systems, predominantly using Innovyze/AutoDesk and Aquanuity software packages.
  • Leading the planning and analysis of water, wastewater and/or recycled water processes and facilities, including capacity analysis, facility plans, alternatives analysis, condition assessment, process evaluations, risk assessment, operations, and maintenance assessments; includes preparation of condition assessment technical memorandums.
  • Working in a multidisciplinary team coordinating and delegating work between the project manager, project engineers, and subconsultants.
  • Support in the development and training of project engineers; Delegate to and review the work of early career engineers and offer guidance on technical approaches.
  • Working within a project budget and schedule in coordination with the project manager.
  • Manage project phases or technical tasks, ensuring adherence to scope, budget and schedule.
  • Capability to work in the field, including construction observation, inspections/assessments, field measurements, and monitoring equipment setup, as necessary.
  • Assisting others and leading others in providing engineering services during construction, including reviewing contractor RFIs, submittals, change order requests, among others.
  • Potential for limited travel within San Diego, Orange County, Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Ventura, Imperial, and Santa Barbara counties.
  • Technical document and graphics preparation. Must possess a valid driver's license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by the first day of employment
Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a similar discipline. * 5 plus years engineering experience in planning and design of water/wastewater-related projects. * Professional Civil Engineer licensed in the State of California. * Skilled in the use of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint), have excellent writing, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. * Experience with design software including ArcGIS and Bluebeam Revu. * Experience with, or willingness to learn, hydraulic modeling and asset management software programs (predominantly Innovyze/AutoDesk InfoWater, InfoSewer, InfoSWMM, InfoWorks ICM and Aquanuity AquaTwin Sewer and AquaTwin Asset)
Compensation:$120,000-$140,000 annually *
  • *Final agreed-upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, an individual's related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check prior to beginning employment.

  • This job operates in a remote or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.
  • This job requires occasional project site visits, based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, and moving vehicles and equipment.
