Job Summary

The Training Specialist, Technical Learning & Development position will assist in all training aspects of the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) and the State Examination System (SES), delivering quality training to a variety of audiences, to include state regulatory agencies, industry firms and individuals, internal staff, and support users. This position will play a key role in improving the productivity of half a million people and more than 50 stat agencies.

CSBS's training utilizes a diverse set of delivery methods including online help features, printed materials, in-person training, eLearning, and webinars. The Training Specialist position will be integral in the development of all resources and training sessions from the inception of the program of instruction to delivery and evaluation. The Training Specialist will also collaborate with system business analysts, product team members, and developers to ensure seamless system navigation and timely support for system enhancements.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for training content, providing learning consultation for all system training materials.
  • Develop materials, data, and presentations in preparation for webinar training.
  • Conduct live webinar training sessions for regulators and industry representatives, presenting material through live system demonstration, resources, and answering attendee questions with adept ability and expertise. Respond to survey questions and comments from attendee's post-webinar.
  • Facilitate in-person training for regulatory agencies and industry, demonstrating system knowledge and a professional demeanor to key stakeholders. Instruct on standard functionality, customized workflows, and ad hoc topics upon request without pause.
  • Lead internal staff training, including live demonstrations and facilitating completion of core content for eLearning team members. Prepare self-paced assignments for learners, following up and conducting a review of completed activities and providing feedback.
  • Create recorded video how-to material of system functionality, using video capture and editing software for seamless presentation.
  • Complete assigned project activities, from design to implementation, responsible for internal and stakeholder acceptance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally within the organization and with external stakeholders/vendors on projects.
  • Develop software simulations of system functionality using the eLearning content authoring tool, making decisions as to when simulations are necessary in view, practice, and test modes.
  • Support new system enhancement development, providing the user perspective throughout the requirements, development, and testing phases.


Additional Responsibilities



  • Develop and maintain written resource documents and guides, writing functional steps and ensuring document comprehension.
  • Develop eLearning exercises and courses as needed using the content authoring tool. Storyboard, design, and build eLearning courses for maximum interactivity and knowledge transfer.
  • Support agency visits in a training capacity to provide planned and ad hoc training on system functionality, as well as providing best practices in the use of given system functions.



Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Degree in related learning and development field or minimum course requirement including public speaking is desired.
  • 2+ years of experience conducting technical training for diverse audiences, an aptitude for using and instructing systems, and writing resource material.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite.
  • Experience with eLearning authoring tools is desired.
  • Experience with video capture and editing software is desired.
  • Hands-on experience with learning development software is a plus.

  • Knowledge of video capture software such as Camtasia and eLearning software such as Articulate Storyline is a plus.
