THE POSITION

The Facilities, Fleet, and Parks Department is seeking an Equipment and Supply Coordinator to join our team and support the work of our dedicated facilities and specialist teams. This position will support the department with research and purchasing of office furnishing, tools, equipment, and supplies necessary to maintain County-owned buildings including setting up and administration of a warehouse that includes County-standard office furnishings.

The Equipment and Supply Coordinator will work closely with the Central Logistics Services Supervisor to create a well-organized stock management scheme that integrates well with the existing work order system. The stock management scheme will be based on three tiers, being personal (items issued directly to technicians and their vehicles), building (items staged against future need in specific structures), and warehouse (items to continuously replenish the first two tiers). The position entails significant duties related to office furnishing, to include purchasing, managing inventory, and handling defective returns of standard office furnishings. Prior experience in this field is particularly useful. Qualified applicants should have documented success in purchasing and stock management. They must be able to safely operate a manual pallet jack, a cargo van, light box truck, forklift, and standup forklift.

The Facilities, Fleet, and Parks Department is charged with ensuring that all County-owned buildings and grounds are safe, functional, and welcoming to both the staff who work here and to the public who look to their local government to serve them well. We value the contributions of all our employees, and we bring our unique skills and perspectives together to make the work of serving the people of Washington County possible for our colleagues in other departments.

The ideal candidate for this position will be committed to contributing to an inclusive and safe space for everyone within and interacting with Facilities, Fleet, and Parks. They will need top level communication skills, both oral and written, and have well-developed skills as a listener. Additionally, they will demonstrate the following traits:

  • Detail oriented
  • Creative problem solver
  • Open to different forms of collaboration and respectful of various communication styles
  • Equally at ease in the office and the field
  • Service-minded
  • Proven success in stock management and purchasing
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task and adapt to reactive and emergency situations
  • Commitment to accurate work and faithful reporting of facts
  • An open and collaborative working style, characteristic of a team player who can support a "One Washington County" approach to every project
  • Maintains cooperative and positive relations with coworkers and vendors
