JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to the Senior Director of Health and Wellness Services (who also serves as the organization's Chief Medical Officer), the Deputy Senior Director of Behavioral Health and Wellness Services will lead the strategic and operational execution of Behavioral Health and Wellness Service Programs across Endeavors. This role serves as a key advisor to both the Senior Director of Health and Wellness Services, and the Chief Operating Officer (COO), providing insight on strategy, operational priorities, and business development opportunities. The Deputy Senior Director will be responsible for designing, launching, and managing innovative, high-impact programs that align with the organization's mission to serve vulnerable populations in crisis. The Deputy Senior Director will foster collaborative partnerships with internal teams, including counterparts in other Pillars and with the Regional Director for the Cohen Military Family Clinics, and external stakeholders at the local, state, and national levels to enhance visibility, secure funding, and drive advocacy efforts for health and wellness initiatives. This position requires a strong blend of business acumen, strong communications skills, including executive presence, and collaborative leadership. Qualifications
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
In partnership with the Senior Director for Health and Wellness, provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for programs, including but not limited to: the San Antonio Health and Wellness Center, the El Paso Health and Wellness Center, Workforce and Family Resiliency Services, Long-Term Behavioral Health and Substance Use Disorder Treatment, and Community Wellness Programs that support the delivery of health and wellness services to vulnerable and underserved populations.
Direct and manage all aspects of program operations, including service delivery models, staffing, logistics, performance measurement, project management, and continuous improvement. Ensure programs meet or exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and comply with all contractual, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
Develop and manage budgets for its programs. Monitor and communicate program performance, address issues, and proactively conduct risk assessments and mitigation planning to ensure financial and operational sustainability.
Oversee practice management functions, including private payer billing, coding compliance, and accounts receivable management to ensure efficient and compliant revenue cycle operations.
Collaborate with the Business Development team and the Senior Director to identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants and contracts, which align with HWS priorities. Cultivate strategic partnerships to expand the reach and impact of HWS programs. Particular focus on federal state and local opportunities.
Work closely with the Senior Director/CMO, support departments, and other senior leadership across Endeavors to ensure that infrastructure and support systems are in place to sustain and scale Health and Wellness Services across the organization.
Maintain current knowledge of Federal grants management, Federal and state grant policies and procedures, compliance requirements, and accreditation guidelines. Lead efforts in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement across Health and Wellness Services.
Represent Endeavors at conferences, stakeholder meetings, and with local, state, and national partners. Build and maintain strategic relationships with service providers, veteran/first responder serving organizations, and other key stakeholders to advance the mission and visibility of Endeavors' Health and Wellness Services.
Perform additional responsibilities as required to support the success of HWS and the broader organization.
Demonstrate exceptional customer service by prioritizing the needs of children, families, veterans, and clients in every interaction in alignment with Endeavors' mission. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in the Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field. EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 10 years of experience is preferred in Federal, state, and/or local grants management and oversight, some experience in health and wellness services is preferred, with demonstrated expertise in process improvement, project management, and budget development and reconciliation. Strong expertise in understanding how programs work at the federal, state, and/or local levels is also preferred. Proven expertise in establishing and managing third-party billing systems and credentialing programs, including with Medicare/Medicaid. Prior experience working with military, veterans, first responders, and/or other vulnerable populations is strongly preferred, reflecting an understanding of their unique needs and service environments. A minimum of five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory role, with a track record of effective team leadership and operational oversight. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to foster a collaborative, supportive, and adaptable team culture. ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion. LICENSES: Driver's License with clear record. VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice. OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations (30-40%) and with such frequency as the business need dictates. Must be available and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as required to meet business needs. Willingness to work other duties as required.
