The Opportunity:

The University of Central Florida (UCF) seeks a highly experienced and driven, accomplished, and strategic fundraising leader to assume the role of Assistant Vice President, Transformational Giving. The Assistant Vice President will be charged with the strategic development of a high-performance transformational gift program, prospect pipeline development, and serve as a principal gifts fundraiser. This role will spearhead principal gift fundraising in preparation for a campaign, working collaboratively across the organization with university leadership, deans, and faculty members, as well as facilitating interaction of principal-level prospects with the President and other leadership. Additionally, this role will serve as a key strategist, directing the focus of the principal gifts program and coaching colleagues in gift conversations at the principal gift level with the university's top donors.

The successful candidate will have experience developing and managing a high-performance transformational gift program and cultivating principal gift relationships across a campus-wide pipeline. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to conceive and operationalize pertinent value-added strategic plans and initiatives, showcase high levels of emotional intelligence with the keen awareness of when to defer to colleagues and partners across the UCF community, have a deeply curious mind, and be successful in handling complex gifts with multiple partners. The successful candidate will utilize industry best practices, creativity, innovation, and a data-driven approach to build and manage a thriving transformational gift program. The candidate must have the ability to travel extensively to personally develop relationships and staff leadership as needed.

Responsibilities:


  • In collaboration with the Advancement & Partnerships Division's leadership team, conceive and build a robust, innovative, and highly effective transformational giving program that drives sustained value to UCF.

  • Utilize industry best practices and thought leadership to foster motivation and excitement, elevate divisional performance, and create a culture of excellence.

  • Partner with university leadership, deans, faculty members, and all Advancement & Partnerships functional units to develop relationships with individuals and organizations that lead to principal gifts defined as commitments of $1 million or greater.

  • Develop cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans to secure principal and planned gifts and maintain a select portfolio of prospects rated with a giving capacity of $1 million or more, particularly those with multiple giving interests.

  • Facilitate the interaction of principal-level prospects with the President and Senior Vice President of the Division of Advancement & Partnerships, senior administrators and deans, and faculty.

  • Direct collaborative efforts to develop a strategy for principal-level prospects shared by more than one academic unit; facilitate action plans and monitor strategy implementation.

  • Serve as fundraising coach on principal gifts; lead strategies that include highly complex gift discussions and interactions with donors capable of making significant contributions across campus. Coordinate the stewardship of all principal gift donors as well as the work of all development officers on gifts of this level of sophistication.

  • Work with the SAVP and the Executive Team to identify areas of focus and prepare comprehensive fundraising goals, objectives, budgets, and plans for all areas of management responsibility.

  • Provide fundraising leadership for and on behalf of UCF Advancement & Partnerships by acquiring and maintaining knowledge of UCF's policies and procedures, becoming knowledgeable of all aspects of the business.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 10+ years relevant experience with at least 5+ years of leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience creating, developing, and managing a high-performance transformational gift program and cultivating principal gift relationships across a campus-wide pipeline.

  • Displays high levels of emotional intelligence and exemplary communication skills, demonstrates a proven ability to collaborate across internal and external partnerships, and is results-driven.

  • Has a deep understanding of industry best practices, can provide thought leadership, and can work independently as well as cohesively as a member of a team.

  • The ability to clearly communicate critical areas for fundraising growth and craft a cohesive transformational giving program focused on short- and longer-term strategy.

  • A deeply curious mind and organized, efficient approach to complex workflow.

  • Significant experience in increasing responsibility roles, focusing on creative and dynamic fundraising efforts through collaboration and consensus building.

  • A professional comfortable working with top levels of leadership, with a focus on moves management and gathering buy-in across the organization.

  • A comfort with handling complex gifts, multiple partners, and sensitive situations.

  • Ability to travel extensively to personally develop relationships and staff leadership if needed.
