The Corporate office of SmithGroupis looking for anAssociate General Counselto join our team.

Working with us, you will:



  • Assist in developing corporate policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Review corporate transactions, such as contract and lease reviews/negotiations.
  • Consult with the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel to determine the merits of project and employment claims made against or on behalf of the company.
  • Participate in business transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures.
  • Participate in legal aspects of the company's financing, including assessing current and future business structures and legal entities.
  • Advise on best practices in corporate governance, understanding of compliance issues, and regulatory issues.
  • Participate in the evaluation of the company's insurance programs.
  • Participate in the support of patent pursuits by the company.



An ideal candidate has:



  • 1 - 3 years' experience in construction and transactional law. In-house counsel experience strongly preferred, though relevant outside counsel experience will also be considered.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school required. Undergraduate Engineering or Architectural degree preferred.
  • Active bar membership required.
  • Excellent legal, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Developed and professional interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels of the company.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe software. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

While we may ultimately pay more or less than a posted salary range, at the time of posting the anticipated salary range for this position is $110,000 to $129,000 annually and you are eligible for a performance-based bonus each year.
