Value Analysis and Utilization Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for integrating cost optimization, clinical value analysis, value-based sourcing, and advanced analytics to enhance patient care while achieving financial sustainability for planning, directing and managing the procurement of quality supplies and equipment for the Health System. Leads multidisciplinary teams, develops and implements strategic initiatives, and collaborates with leadership to achieve measurable improvements in resource utilization, quality and outcomes. Responsible for the functional coordination of respective areas within the department, other Bryan Health System entities, affiliates and outside resources/vendors.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
  2. *Plans, directs and coordinates multidisciplinary Value Analysis (VA) teams in the evaluation and implementation of medical supplies, equipment, services, and technologies for Health System entities; works with personnel to ensure requested items meet quality and purpose standards.
  3. Establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify, prioritize and monitor the effectiveness of resource optimization initiatives and report on outcomes.
  4. Champions the collection, analysis, and interpretation of complex clinical, financial, and operational data to inform cost optimization, value analysis, and sourcing strategies.
  5. *Coordinates communications and VA and utilization activities with multiple vendors and health care resources.
  6. *Ensures the standards of operation of the department are in compliance with regulatory agencies such as the State Department of Health, Joint Commission, AAMI, and OSHA.
  7. *Interviews, selects, promotes, counsels, resolves conflicts, and disciplines employees according to Human Resources policies and in consultation with the Senior Director; ensures staff remain competent in their duties by monitoring their performance and encouraging appropriate development and training opportunities.
  8. *Conducts rounding, progress reviews and performance appraisals for assigned staff.
  9. Reviews appropriate journals and participates in continuing education conferences to aid in the ongoing development of leadership and VA expertise.
  10. *Establishes, implements, and maintains policies and procedures for VA activities.
  11. *Directs the overall preparation of the VA aspect of the budget including identifying labor standards.
  12. *Monitors expenditures and maintains budgetary parameters for each respective fiscal year.
  13. *Monitors, tracks results and develops reports to communicate accomplishments using all tools available to identify costs/practice variation among health system departments.
  14. Interacts directly with Bryan leadership at all levels to facilitate evaluation, implementation and communication of supplies and equipment.
  15. *Communicates department issues and procedures to employees and conducts department meetings to convey health system and departmental business.
  16. *Cultivates and maintains strong, collaborative relationships with physicians, clinicians, Supply Chain, Finance, Information Technology, and administrative leaders across Bryan Health.to achieve enhanced understanding and compliance with Supply Chain policies and procedures.
  17. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  18. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
  19. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  1. Knowledge of the principles and applications of VA, Supply Chain and negotiations.
  2. Knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws governing supplies and equipment in a medical environment.
  3. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.
  4. Skill in strategizing and negotiating purchase agreements.
  5. Skill in mathematical computations and configuring financial impacts.
  6. Ability to plan, assign, direct, train and evaluate the work of others.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related area required. Master's preferred. Minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible experience in supply chain, analytics or related field required, and prior supervisor experience desired.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)
