Responsibilities:

The Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within a food manufacturing facility. This role ensures all electrical components meet regulatory standards and support safe, efficient, and continuous production operations. The Electrician works closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to troubleshoot issues, minimize downtime, and implement preventive maintenance programs in compliance with food safety and quality standards.

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, machinery, and control panels in accordance with electrical codes and company standards.
• Diagnose electrical malfunctions and implement timely corrective actions to minimize production downtime.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, OSHA, and NFPA electrical safety standards.
• Support automation and process improvement initiatives.
• Respond to emergency repair requests during production shifts as needed.
• Make layout of electrical circuits.
• Make up material and parts lists.
• Determine proper size and specifications of wire, conduit, switches, panels, fuses, etc.
• Inspect motors, switches, junction boxes, switch panels, circuit breakers, transformers, fuse panels, lighting, heating and power circuits.
• Complete or direct the installation, connection, adjustment and calibration of electrical gauges and recording instruments.
• May make repairs on ignition and electrical systems, including automotive equipment.
• Any other duties required by supervision/management.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or journeyman electrician license preferred.
• Minimum 3-5 years of industrial or manufacturing electrical experience; food manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of PLCs, motor controls, VFDs, and industrial electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Working knowledge of electrical codes, safety practices, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, weekends, or holidays as required.
• Must have a license where required.
• Must have previous experience as a journeyman electrician.
• SAP experience preferred
