Position Description

LCG is seeking a skilled Technical Trainer to support our software development team during a major DB2 to SQL Server database migration. This role involves creating and conducting live and virtual technical training sessions, supporting "train-the-trainer" initiatives, and developing knowledge transfer materials to empower both new and experienced developers to adapt to the modernized data environment.

Key Responsibilities



  • Design and deliver targeted technical training sessions for software developers transitioning from DB2 to SQL Server.
  • Develop instructional materials, including slide decks, hands-on labs, quick reference guides, and recorded tutorials.
  • Conduct "train-the-trainer" programs to enable technical leads and team champions to independently reinforce learning within their teams.
  • Work closely with database architects and software engineers to identify knowledge gaps and customize training content accordingly.
  • Provide 1:1 and group coaching on writing performant SQL queries, stored procedures, and migration-specific development techniques.
  • Facilitate interactive Q&A sessions, knowledge checks, and post-training evaluations to ensure training effectiveness.
  • Maintain a training calendar and documentation repository to ensure content is updated and easily accessible.
  • Track learner progress and report on key training metrics to project leadership and stakeholders.


Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in technical training, software development, or database engineering.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering technical training to developer audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex technical content into accessible material.
  • Experience with instructional design tools and e-learning platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple training tracks and adjust delivery based on team need.


Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $60 - $80 per hour benchmarked in the New York City metropolitan area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
