Position Description

The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable IT configurations and deployment pipelines. This is in support of a major initiative, aimed at migrating legacy DB2 databases to modern SQL-based infrastructure. The role requires expertise in cloud-native applications, Azure DevOps, CI/CD automation, and database migrations, ensuring seamless integration with the client's existing systems.

Key Responsibilities



  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment of infrastructure and application updates.
  • Support the DB2 to SQL migration, ensuring data integrity, optimization, and seamless system transitions.
  • Configure and deploy SQL Server databases, ensuring integration with DOE's IT environment.
  • Optimize IT configurations to enhance security, reliability, and performance.
  • Automate configuration management using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Chef.
  • Implement cloud solutions on Azure, supporting scalable DevOps practices.
  • Integrate DevOps workflows with Microsoft .NET applications, ensuring compatibility across modern web and mobile browsers.
  • Establish monitoring solutions using Power BI and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for system performance tracking.
  • Collaborate with development and security teams to ensure compliance with DOE's cybersecurity policies.


Requirements



  • 8+ years of experience in DevOps, system automation, and database migrations.
  • Strong proficiency in DB2 to SQL data migration tools and methodologies.
  • Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2014/2016/2019) and Azure Data Factory for seamless data integration.
  • Experience configuring and managing containerization with Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Deep understanding of Terraform, Ansible, and Chef for infrastructure automation.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, GitLab CI/CD, and other pipeline orchestration tools.
  • Solid grasp of PowerShell, Python, and Bash scripting for automation and troubleshooting.


Preferred Qualifications/Certifications



  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.
  • Experience with SQL database administration, data modeling, and query optimization.
  • Proven track record of handling large-scale DB2 migrations and legacy system transformations.


Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year benchmarked in the New York City metropolitan area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
